It's a mystery why, after some promising signs last season, we didn't strengthen the squad - actually weakened it! You pointed out areas of weakness before the competition started and have been proven right.

although Stokes could well be worth any number of redundant overseas signings

Kasey Aldridge is going to captain in the One Day Cup. Bit of a left field choice, they must think he has leadership potential. Don't mind that, they could have gone for experience but he'll have plenty of people around to offer afvice.
Lees and Stokes can help with the toss decisions!

well Lees was terrible last year, and the one day cup campaign put us into a doom loop that ruined first the T20 run and then the CC run in, so I don't mind that either.

whether he'll be any good is a different matter, but as you say, he won't be short on advice
