I'd expect more from a number 5. Root would have been slaughtered if he had scored a quick 40, with his side being 400-3, with two and a half days left. McCullum was lucky to make 40.

Issue is McCullum not in the same class as Root.
McCullum is batting one or two place high up in the Test team.

It's one thing to be positive, another to be reckless. This is the man who has a 200 and 300 to his name in recent times. By the way HATE is not applicable, rather dismay.
