i doubt jimmy will still be first choice, he will defo be in the squad but not first choice...to be honest i dont see broad leading a bowling attack,, so finny to lead the attack

Broad's the captain in T20. Attack leader is a bit of a nebulous concept. A bit of being the go to bowler. Well he is in ODIs. He and Swann are our best bowlers. He is included among the planning. He captains some games. He's experienced. He bowls tthe tough overs. I don't see why he can't be considered an attack leader.

Certainties:

Cook (captain)
Morgan (best ODI batsman)
Swann (best ODI spinner)
Broad (T20 captain, good ODI bowler, can bat at 8)
Finn (best ODI seamer)

Probables:

Pietersen (great ODI batsman, likely to be back in the fold)
Bopara (only current ODI batsman capable of bowling 10 overs)
Patel (decent slow bowling option capable of batting at 6 or 7)
Bell (good ODI batsman who will have most opportunities in run-up to 2015 to open)
Bairstow (will have shown he can bat at 4, 5 or 6, and more than adequate with the gloves)

With all his injury problems and age catching up, Swann will almost certainly quit the shorter formats after the World T20 or the Champions Trophy. I'd be shocked if he makes the World Cup.

If that is the case, then we need to be looking at a replacement sooner rather than later, don't we? Picking Tredwell isn't the answer as he is only a year younger than Swann!

Its not all about age. Swann has a chronic elbow problem and even after surgery, I doubt whether he'd ever be the same bowler again, particularly if he has to shoulder the responsibility in all the formats. I'd rather let him prolong his Test career. Tredwell should be fit enough for the next WC. My problem with Tredwell is more to do with whether he is good enough and not how old he is. I think he is a very handy squad player but long term first choice spinner? Regardless of his age, I'd say no. When does Dockrell qualify for England?
