I feel the decision to use goal technology was all hashed out and on the emotion of Frank Lampards disallowed goal.

If goal line technology is going to be used, then DRS must be in place. Rugby League goes through several processes if the referee decides to refer a try, incase of offsides, knock ons etc.

There was an infringement with Clint Hills disallowed goal against Bolton, the corner ball was positioned and kicked outside the arc leading to Clints header. Had goal technology was used to award the goal, Bolton would feel robbed as the corner was taken incorrectly.

A fairer solution would be for players who were on the pitch after added extra time to take penalties. Also shootouts to take place on the centre circle for games in neutral venues.

Rather inappropriate use of the word 'tragedy' in the article. Perhaps a better way would be to throw the players passports into a pile, and the team with the most passports for the country that the team is located in wins.
