Probably, the English cricket media for the most part has two default settings: Praise the team or find a player to criticise.

And KPs sponsors aren't going to like this either. Surprised he hasn't commented yet. Maybe he's been asked not to make any further statements. But that would be counter productive.

Presumably he's with the England camp and maybe saw the article and went straight to Flower to tell him it was a load of crap.

Maybe the ECB leaked it. Was a story in the Sunday Times yestreday to the effect that its bec0ming increasingly clear that the KP saga is about money, not rest. If so Id assume the source of this clarity isnt KPs side.

Almost every journo on Twitter feels that the Telegraph story is completely reliable.

Even cricinfo isn't running it, and their standards are pretty low.

This matter would dealt with by Hugh Morris who unlike KP always seemed a tight lipped individual.

I've only seen Twitter opinions from Aggers, Selvey & Pringle - 3 people whose opinions I wouldn't greatly value.

Cricinfo's Andrew Mcglashan, with whom I have been discussing the KP issue a lot over the past few days, just messaged me on Facebook.

George Dobell is a big Surrey fan so maybe his sympathies lie with Pietersen.

George is indeed one of the few people sympathetic towards KP. I think he is on a holdiay, anyway. Hasnt tweeted for the past couple of days.

Same story is in the Mail - but they haven't headlined it, which suggests Nick Hoult broke the story.

If true, I don't think it is an 'extra' move. It seems to be part of the bargaining on offer: I will play in all formats on condition that you let me play for the whole of the IPL. He also wants to pick and choose his ODIs.

He and his agent/s must think he is a valuable commodity. Didn't KP make the same mistake about his row with Moores/Flower combo? He wanted them both sacked. Moores was sacked but Flower survived and KP lost the captaincy. Now he is criticising Flower for being worked every day and not being handled properly. Is he just talking out of turn? Or preparing to quit? He may think he has some muscle on the eve of the most important Test Series for England. Happens to coincide with eve of t20 cup selection.

It could be a negotiating ploy. I once used to negotiate on behalf of my trade union as Father of the Chapel (NUJ). You would ask for something you knew you wouldn't get so you could offer to withdraw it. It would then look like a concession. The idea is to make the rest of the demands look more reasonable.

Just a thought.
