Making a window would also open the door for the compeition no longer being seen as a domestic property of the BCCI.

If the BCCI decided to want a window for the IPL they'd get one.

agreed again

the BCCI are not going to compromise their own position by relinquishing any aspect of control over the IPL , and why should they ?

Indeed, altruism is hardly decent currancy in international sport.

Surely the BCCI have effectively got a window with almost every country except WI and England and that's good enough for them.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

A window woud mean that all international players would be available for the entirity of the competition which is something that they don't have as there are likely to be four team playing international cricket during the IPL.

The whole topic is a complete red herring, fact of the matter is if the BCCI actually wanted a window in the international time table it would be fairly simple for them to force one through with most if not all boards agreeing to it, that they haven't done this just shows that they see no need for one.

perhaps we could offer to sell the BCCI some olympic medals as a negotiating tool? Once they see how shiny they are, they're bound to want some.

Actually.... gawd help the world if India ever win a gold medal in........the javelin, for arguments sake

They'll probably stop playing cricket, scrap the IPL and spend the next few years dragging a unauthorised javelin tournament (the IJL) through the courts because it wasn't sanctioned by the BCJI.

Kevin Pietersen's head turned by IPL: Andy Flower

England coach Andy Flower insists Kevin Pietersen's infatuation with the Indian Premier League played a significant role in the collapse of his international career.

"I think it's fair to say that his issues over being available for the entire IPL have changed his attitude," Flower said.

"I think that was the catalyst for a lot of the stuff. The IPL and the international fixtures in England are an area of conflict. And it will continue to be an area of conflict in the future.

"It would be better if there was a very clear window prior to our international season starting. But it doesn't look like that is an issue that is going to be sorted out in the future, so it may well recur."

So if they think IPL is the main issue, and he has now agreed that his Eng career is much more imp over IPL and has agreed to be available for all Eng fixtures, they should just take him back now right?

Ginger, I think there are three issues; IPL , SMS and differences with two coaches, ECB and few players. Sunday will be a key day for KP's career. It is good that he has learned from his mistakes and have not spoken to media since he was dropped.

I think Pietersen agreeing to go to the T20 WC as a pundit is another error of judgement on his part. It's a provocative move that will just add to his team mates list of grievances. I guess the chance of the limelight and the opportunity to be in a supportive environment is too good to miss.

Where did you read that HFTB and which media outlet hired him, I think Strauss and Flower might have something to say about this on Sunday. They cant stop him but they can point out that it might not heal any of the dressing room rifts.
