Thats Assuming KP wont have quit or will be back in the England squad. Not so sure about Bresnan being classed as an allrounder as you would pick him mainly for this bowling with batting being an extra dimension.

Spinners wise, there might be a few new names that come through and Borthwick isnt out of the running.

Personally I think Priors boat has sailed once and for all in the ODI's, though Davies has an opportunity to get back into the side, 2015 is still 22 months away so expect to see some of those above feature in ODI games over the next 12 motnhs, with a finalised squad taking shape during the start of the 2014 summer.

Prior, Dockrell, Topley....cant see them being in the mix..

Prior's time has gone in limited overs cricket, he had plenty of opportunites and never took them..

Dockrell, i have a feeling he will stick with ireland especially as they could have test status soon perhaps!

Topley, he's good, but he wouldnt be ready by then, he needs to play reguarly..

Also with Topley he's better in the longer form of the game, Mills is better in limited overs than topley.

I'd expect players like Topley, Billings, J.Overton, Coles, Rafiq, Hamilton-Brown, Gregory, Mills, Roy, Ballance to be challenging for spots in 3 years time if not sooner.

I see you're back on the Bopara bandwagon, Shanks. I reckon he'll be out of the side again, having been dropped, then a brief comeback, before being dropped again, between now and then. And the only way we'll see KP at the World Cup is as a commentator, I'm guessing. Eoin Morgan will probably be England captain, after Cook resigns after you hound him out of the England side like you did with Strauss. The Sherminator will still be in there, I guess, as will Trott. Finn, Broad and Anderson will be the key 3 bowlers, with a spinner (anyone's guess who that will be) and an all-rounder, possibly Woakes, who looks alright. They'll do well enough to get knocked out on penalties! ;)

What are peoples thoughts about Harris whos looking to move from Glamorgan to get into a Div 1 county, is he more of a 4 day/test or ODI player?

since he came back from injury he's had a shocker, but even so i would say he's more of a 4 day bowler to be honest.

Don't think so. He has expressed a desire to play Test cricket for England. And he is definitely good enough. As for Topley, was he not the leading wicket taker in the FL T20? Prior is a tough one. I can see your point but I think he deserves one last chance.

As a bowler, I don't think Bresnan would get in. There are lots of more promising quicks than him. He needs to improve his batting to stay in the mix IMO.

BTW good shout on Jamie Overton, ENo_7

From what I saw at the under 19 WC Jamie Overtorn showed more potential than Topley. The captain of that team Ball didn't seem to have a clue which doesn't help. Anyway you never know what will happen to the under 19 guys as many of them just disappear.

I reckon that at least 7 of that U19 squad will have successful careers. Players like Topley, Ball are already doing well in county cricket. If the Overton's, Bell-Drummond, Kapil and Foakes get more opportunities then i think they'll also do well.

I really don't understand the obsession with Docktrell, he hardly bowled for Somerset in list A cricket this year playing I think 6 pro 40 games mainly because he was going at over 6 an over, Kenya put him around with out too much difficulty in an ODI this year and even at the World Cup he only took 7 wickets I think despite being praised from all quarters.

He's had a fairly decent first class season this year but Monty has taken more wickets at a better average.

Bear in mind that he is only 20 and is a spinner. Will only improve. He is a very good bowler for his age.

Borthwick and Briggs are both in their early twenties and there is no guarantee that he will improve, he took a lot of players by suprise and his effectiveness may well just drop off as the think tanks work out how to play him better.

Like I say, a lot of hype over not all that much aside from he's been on the Telly.

foakes will struggle as he is a wicket keeper at essex, and with foster and Wheater ahead of him, he may have to move elsewhere.

Then again I always rated Munday and look what happened to him.

Will Beer is still only in his early 20s too.

What about Kerrigan?

Kerrigan's reputation is virtually 100% based on bowling on spinning wicekts at Old Trafford and Liverpool. He has 75 Fc wicekts at 23 combined on those grounds.

Hes actually played a few more matches away than at home. In thsoe hes got just 25 wickets at 45.

Obviously hes got potential but a spinner has to be able to compete when things arent 100% in his favour to get anywhere.

Personal viwe is that Beer wont make it. Hes a non spinning leggie.

In fairness, there aren't too many spinners around who do well on unhelpful pitches. If he can hold an end up on unhelpful pitches, that'd be fine.]

What are your thoughts on the other spinners?

Shanky, surely this cannot be acceptable for you? Isn't that in effect one of monty's main attributes?
