Yep hugely. And I don't think it was that much of a failed campaign in the end.

Failed in the sense that we didn't reach the semis. Not saying we played badly, of course.

Well, Sachin is at that stage in his career where each series will be scrutinised. So impossible to tell.

It would be fairly disingenuous to say India had a failed campaign, yes the annals of history will show them yet again not reaching the knock out stages but stepping back and looking at it a little closer they won all but one of their games and it was that single bad performance that put them out. Three of the four teams in the Quarter Finals also had poor games - Australia against Pakistan, Pakistan against India and the West Indies against Sri Lanka - but were able to get away with it.

I do think India have to decide whether or not Tendulkar will be around for the 2015 World Cup and if not call time on him now so they can get a good level of experiance in their top order.

I'd say there's almost no chance he'd be allowed to retire from IPL yet, he'll probably have to play that till his 50. He's already retired from International t20's.

And hopefully the new selectors drop him from ODIs.

Probably and waste a cracking opportunity to get the World Cup opening pair some experiance against international attacks in overseas conditions in the process. That said I wouldn't mind watching him bat again.

Fair point. I'd like to see Pujara in the ODI side. Probably at 3 with Virat opening.

Rahane surely?

Rahane is a fine player. But my only worry with him is that just like Rohit, he has not done too well domestically in List A cricket and having seen Rohit struggle in ODI cricket despite having all the shots, it worries me a bit. Rohit might well be an exception but it could also be that we're playing him in the wrong format. Pujara has an outstanding List A record. Remember him scoring a bucketload of runs in a tri series for India A in England in 2010. Just scored a couple of hundreds and a 79 in the Challengers Trophy, albeit on that Rajkot road. But he deserves a go IMO.

I'd like to see Rahane in the Test side first. In place of Gambhir.

List A averages

Pujara : 57
Rahane : 37

Time for Rahane to open in Tests though.

Why would you move Virat from 3?
