Wholesale changes didn't do Australia much harm and they have managed to regain The Ashes in devastating fashion. Senior players can't be taking their places for granted and there are talented prospects on the County Cricket waiting in the wings who have consistently performed year in year out.

wholesale changes from when? from 3 years ago? I reckon Clarke, Watson, Haddin, Siddle, Johnson, Harris, Smith are still around. That's 7 of the current side. hardly wholesale changes

And Aus went through some terrible times, with terrible results, and a coach or two, over the 3 year period. I wonder how many supporters, journo's, pundits in England would tolerate that?

I remember England winning practically *modded* all for 26 years. Not too keen on going through that again any time soon.

Out of that list I'd reckon Clarke and Siddle were 1st team regulars in the last 12 months, whilst the rest got dropped.

In the last 12 months Mike Hussey, Ed Cowan, Usman Khawaja, Mitchell Starc, Jackson Bird, Glenn Maxwell, Ashton Agar, Phil Hughes, Matthew Wade, James Pattinson, James Faulkner featured in tests for Australia.

Out of that list I'd reckon Clarke and Siddle were 1st team regulars in the last 12 months, whilst the rest got dropped.

In the last 12 months Mike Hussey, Ed Cowan, Usman Khawaja, Mitchell Starc, Jackson Bird, Glenn Maxwell, Ashton Agar, Phil Hughes, Matthew Wade, James Pattinson, James Faulkner featured in tests for Australia.

that may well be true, but once Rodgers had been selected, Cowan, Khawaja, Maxwell and Hughes were all tried out for the last batting slot vacated by the Huss and currently held by Bailey. At different positions in the order, I grant you, but still the same slot, with Twatto moving up and the order to accomodate them

Starc, Bird, Patto and Faulkner all fought for the final seamer slot (or as cover for when Harris needed a rest) and lost out to Johno

Still wholesale changes though - established players in Haddin, Lyon and Johnson went in and out the squad in that period of time whilst replacements for Ponting and Hussey were being sought.

I pretty much expect the same shuffling and swapping from England as the opening, no3, no6 and spinners roles are yet to be fulfiled.
