There may be a few other reasons too.

Any road up, his demeanour in Australia, the many times he walked back to the pavilion after a daft shot, suggested he wasn’t all that bothered.

Seems to be the same old stuff on here everytime a story about KP comes out.

Amusingly, it's not even KP who's said or done anything, aside from that he's full commited to England until the next Ashes at least.

Perhaps he's been advised and yes, Pietersen’s PR machine is making the right noises to try to increase support amongst the cricket watching public, especially those with short memories and/or to whom hero worship overrides everything.

Many, however, have not forgotten Pietersen’s recent behaviour.

As I said above, same old stuff, I'm fairly confident that the great divide between those interested in the cricketer and those who take umbridge with the person will never go away.

Yes, it is essentially the same discussion resurrected by recent reports.

There should come a point, though, at which a person’s behaviour should see them out of the team, no matter how talented.

KP is a very nice target to be made a scape goat for the whitewash.Andy has identified that very well.

England's management and support staff have good jobs and are well paid . Add to this travel around the world and most expenses paid and you can understand why they would want to do it. That is why you get 'infighting' amonst many of them. But it doesn't get the job done and it reminds me of the British government on a smaller scale. The style of management is very English in an 'us and them way' Lehman does it differently and is more 'one of the team' but certainly in charge. My father once told me that if I ever had to remind anyone that I was the boss then it was obvious that I wasn't.

KP a 'million pound asset' - Giles

"There was no discussion about leaving Kevin out," Giles said. "He's another million pound asset at least, he might be worth a bit more than that. He's a fantastic player and he's shown that in T20 cricket. He's not played that much for me in T20, but in other competitions how dangerous he can be."

Both KP and Finn should ask for a more rewarding central contract.

Faint praise indeed then if Pietersen's up there with Finn at the moment.

Still, at least Giles used £s and not $s or €s or Turkish lira.

They may need to convince the selectors they are worth their current ones first.
