From cricinfo. So none of that is punishable!

If this is true what a pathetic decision, enough evidence for a level 2 charge for anderson and would easily be able to give Jadeja a level 1 charge.

The source of this is certainly not from the England camp so it's just the India camp providing these "facts". If there's any truth in them then the ICC will have to return to the Anderson case. I presume the Judge was only dealing with the level 3 breach and any lower charge was outside his remit.

Well if you read the article , Anderson actually admits only to having used some very rude words to Jadeja. He also agrees that his behaviour was against the spirit of cricket.
The additional part about pushing ( and even the tooth breaking) seems to be what the BCCI counsel alleged . Which is not quite the same thing.
In the absence of a complete transcript of the hearing we are not really in a position to judge why the commissioner reached the decision he did. And there is no reference to what , if anything , Jadeja said in reply.

I must confess I had expected some fines to be levied , certainly against Anderson for verbal abuse which he hasn't denied ; possibly against both players. But I wasn't there . Any more than anyone else on here.

I rather hope both teams are able to put this behind them and get on with the game. Sort of hope all posters on here can eventually do likewise ...

nope Anderson was cleared for level 3, level 2 or even level 1 charge.
Another possibility is that Anderson may admit to having committed a lesser offence. In Harbhajan's case Justice Hansen, who oversaw the appeal, was unconvinced of his guilt based on the evidence submitted before him, but charged Harbhajan with a lesser offence - abuse and insult not amounting to racism - to which he pleaded guilty. In the absence of video evidence at Anderson's hearing, the scenario could possibly play out in such a manner.

If Anderson Admitted to some offence he could easily have been charged level 1 or level 2.

Daily mail reporting ICC might appeal due to N Srivinvasn involvement their.

It's likely that if Dhoni hadn't wanted Anderson 'hanged, drawn and quartered' by insisting on having him charged at the level 3 breach of the code and agreeing to a charge at level 2, Anderson would have been banned by David Boon.

It does really look like all parties are gonna be embarrassed here.

Anderson for his sledging and what he said and supposedly did.
ICC for the way they handled it.
BCCI for making a mountain of a mole hill.
I doubt this would end we would probably get leaks and reports of what happened in the hearing.
The Aussie guy should have just charged both player level 2 and give both players 100% fine or something.
Would have ensured this was the end of the matter, I doubt both side will disappointed with that verdict.

But now the Indian are very unhappy with the hearing result and because of that we still hearing news and stories about it.

I pretty much agree with that. Heavy fines and stern warning not to behave like idiots in future might have been appropriate. Though if India are still talking about further appeals (really hope not !) that might not have been the end of it either...

Think India would be most unwise to continue pushing about this matter : I suspect it might have been more of a distraction for them than it was for Anderson or England , judging by what happened at the Rose Bowl.
I think they have made their basic point : that they aren't going to be pushed around ; and fair enough too. Best to leave it there.

not surprised in the least, as I said right from the start of this - It's the way cricket still works - Eng or Aus v India / Pak / SL /Bangla ... for an Aus or Eng player to be punished there would pretty much have to be video evidence of a full on physical assault, and even then Jadeja would probably have been fined for being in the way of Anderson's fist. I've been proved right on this again - Anderson seems pretty clearly able to abuse at will with no danger of any repercussions - and has the full support of the Eng management and the ECB in behaving this way.

We had it last time Ind were here - pretty sure an ind bowler got done for nudging an Eng batsman but when Anderson did it to Gambhir there was not even a murmur.

The world really hasn't moved on as much as people like to make out - the nasty taste is still there and this incident is just one more example.

Reminds me of these incidents from the India's tour of Australia in 1999/00 .

Venkataseh Prasad's send off to Slater 2nd Test Melbourne. He is fined 35% of his match fee.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSn3MG1r5Fo#t=92 ( @ 1:30)

Mc Grath's send off to Sachin 3rd Test, Sydney - Same series. Not even a murmur from any of the officials.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX7yZw0RWEQ#t=305 (@ 5:13)

These are the kind of incidents that used to give force to the feeling that Sub Continental teams were treated a bit harsher while the Eng / Aus Players used to get away with more.

Admittedly this is from a long time back and things have changed a lot since then. But you can see where We Indian / Subcontinental fans' attitudes towards ICC are coming from. :-)

He admitted to all this but got off.

For some reason cricinfo took down the article.

Just yet more hearsay, best treated with scepticism.

Globally perhaps but not here. The grounds are full when the Aussies play in England.

ECB wouldn't care about the ticket sales for the grounds, get lots of money from TV.

Really? With a ticket price upwards of £50 and up to 25 full houses, perhaps 400000 tickets sold for a series.

Yes, that only comes to a good share of about £20m and perhaps a bit more from the catering companies, merchandise sellers etc., so I'm sure you're right that the ECB wouldn't care about that.

Not sure ECB gets all the 20M I expect counties get most of that.
ECB gets 50M from Star to cover the series and probably another 30-40M from Sky to cover this series.
That already close to 100M just on the broadcasting rights.

Counties are not happy that ECB don't take any risk on the staging of the matches, they get paid the same amount of money if 0 people turn up or it is a full house.

Apart from a not insignificant share of the revenue from ticket sales, catering and merchandising, of course.

I think we may be forgiven for not taking a report of the incident in the Hindustan Times too seriously.

Interesting. Sounds very believable. Why would India charge Anderson with a Level 3 charge without anything happening? I don't believe the crap that they wanted Anderson out of the series. Thats too cheap, India would never do that.

No, of course they wouldn't.

ddb, why do you keep saying it's on cricinfo as if they are a source of all truth. They are no different from any other media outlet who are willing to reprint any rumour and gossip that comes their way.
