Does he throw or not throw, that is the question.

What's buzzing in the world of cricket....

This is the crucial statement surely.
Law 24.3 states:

"A ball is fairly delivered in respect to the arm if, once the bowler's arm has reached the level of the shoulder in the delivery swing, the elbow joint is not straightened partially or completely from that point until the ball has left the hand.

So as I understand it the arm may be bent, crooked or whatever you want to define flex as, but it is limited to 15 degrees but no straightening must take place as described above.

In some respects introducing the 15 degree limit has confused the issue.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Channel 4 (I think) produced a video during the Muralitharan controversy. I'm not sure how helpful it was, though.

The law is in place to ensure that the normal straightening of the arm takes place well before delivery so the ball is not thrown. Few bowlers can (or would want to) propel the ball with an arm that is bent - control would be all but impossible. The law can be interpreted as allowing this to happen but, in fact, it very rarely does and this is not why the law is phrased as it is.

Spinners bowling in long sleeves always get a raised eyebrow from me.

Me too, as does seem odd with the rest of the team most often in short sleeves. Off course our own Swann did so.

Even more suspicious is when they suddenly adopt the habit, shortly after being reported. As I think Botha did. Ajmal too?

In an interview last year taking about his plan to bowl the 'doosra', Ashwin joked about wearing long sleeves which of course he doesn't do.

Story here: http://www.espncricinfo.com/west-indies ... 73837.html

Strange that they say he has a problem with all his deliveries. If it was that obvious then surely he should have been reported ages ago or are the umpires only doing it now because others have been reported?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Pakistan bowler Hafeez isn't reported one day, he's always looked suspect to my eyes.
