But sold one player for £75m.

City lookimg good tonight. Can't see Liverpool scoring, for all their effort.

Wasn't 75m. It was 65. But still they still haven't improved their 11 despite all that money spent. It seems anyway.

Think Liverpool will struggle for top 4 this year, alot of players to bed in. As DR says alot like spurs last year. They have spent money, but had some money to spend and needed a bigger squad to cope with Europe as well as domestic issues. Liverpool have spent about 160 million over the last 2 years and recouped about 100 mil. They also have some players worth some money, but also alot of expensive british players no one else wants. Their team is fighting with everton, spurs and United for 4th in my view.

United have spent about 200 mil over the last 2 years and recouped about 10 mil. They still have some spending left to do and are not competting in europe. They have big sponsorship deals, but will need european football to keep getting these at the same level. They also will need to keep replacing players over the coming years so alot more investment is going to be needed on the playing side(Rooney, RVP, Defense and Midfield). Also a lot of their players are not really worth too much so they are going to have a large negative spend for a few years yet. I think the best they can do is 4th this year, but i actually think it might be beyond them.

Spurs to finally get 4th for me, and they have spent to get there.

Yeah most of that is true.

I think a cheeky bid for Cech should be on.

So we got Di Maria, wow that will strike fear in the hearts of the other premiership sides. How will they contain him? :P

Record Brit transfer fees

2011 Fernando Torres £50m Liverpool to Chelsea
2013 Mesut Ozil £42.4mReal Madrid to Arsenal
2011Sergio Aguero £38m Atletico Madrid to Manchester City
2014 Juan Mata £37.1m Chelsea to Manchester United
2011 Andy Carroll £ 35m Newcastle to Liverpool
2014 Alexis Sanchez £35m Barcelona to Arsenal

Some interesting talking points I'm sure came up with some of the above transfers. Where will Di Maria fit into this? I certainly hope he surprises me, but I'm not feeling it.

Aguero has been the only one who has been value, well thus far. Sanchez, Ozil and Mata might.

Yep I was thinking the same thing. I have to say Mata has impressed me and I think he will be the key factor in avoiding relegation. :)

The rise of Torres at Liverpool and the fall at Chelsea have been quite shoking.

He did have his moment though when he scored against Barcelona, that was fun. :clap
