Even though the Burnley players lack ability (and ultimately, I suspect, will finish 20th), I can at least see them giving it their all right the way through to game 38.

With the Newcastle players though, if they don't turn around it, some of their players will just jack it in - knowing full well that they'll just move to another club in the summer. Mostly clubs in France, you'd assume.

I really hope Burnley get more than 11 points, i like that Derby has that record :rasta

And they should be able to do that, but loosing to potentially one of your relegation rivals 4-0. The signs suggest it will be a very tough year

A month ago they drew with Man United, yesterday was a bad day at the office. They will go down though, as will QPR.

Either way I think the club will be looking for a new manager at the end of the meeting.

The rumours are that his job is still safe.

I guess its nice to see a club not sack its manager on a whim?

Tbf to Pardew, being under Ashley is a dead man's job..... buy good player, sell good player, get 10% of the money to bring someone in to replace him, if he is good wait 12 months to sell, etc etc. I don't think Pardew has done bad at Newcastle, he hasn't had much resources in comparison to many, and has to sell anyone who stands out.

There has been an ever increasing rumour that Ashley owes nothing to Pardew if he sacks him, and that Pardew is on virtually nothing at Newcastle. Apparently the reason for the 7-8 year contact for Pardew was not madness from Ashley, but actually based on hugely generous terms for him if he wants to rip it up.... the reason is believed to be a past debt owed by Pardew to Ashley based on a casino debt he run up in London.... a facility that Ashley owned. Apparently Dennis Wise and Joe Kinnear were also regulars at said casino, and their appointments were also made to "pay off" debts owed to Ashley.... seems more plausible

If this rumour is true, maybe the reason Ashley wont sack Padrew is because then he might actually have to pay a manager? It does seem strange with recent form and the head butting incident last year, not to mention the run in with Man City, why Padrew still has a job at newcastle.

I can't see it being the case. It would allow Pardew to run the club into the ground. He could technically let the club fall down the divisions knowing that if he was sacked he'd be laughing all the way to the bank.

Not at all. He took the job apparently to pay off a debt, has been given a long contract should he have done well and become a "sellable" asset, and apparently gets nothing if he is sacked. He also provides Ashley with a cheap option as manager.... a cheap option that has done pretty well if his reign is taken as a whole.

Pardew denied the "gambling debt" rumour a while back.... he said he never gambled ever, it wasn't his thing.... but a photo of him with Ashley at a casino just the week before emerged after, which made those words very unbelievable. He answered that attack by inferring that Ashley wanted to build a personal relationship, and likes casinos, so he went along to be polite and didn't gamble.

Ji Sung Park has returned to ManUtd in an ambassador's role for the club.

I didn't realise he'd retired from playing.

Man City leave it late, Burnley get a surprise point, and Pardew probably hangs on for another week.
