Btw, the above picture is the headline shot that it was referring to, so Broad was also on the front of the Adelaide Advertiser.

To describe a veteran of 230 international matches as a "young player" is quite astounding, and no doubt specifically worded dishonestly (and ignoring Broad and Bairstow completely) to make it seem like KP was taking the U-19's out to bars on the basis that he wanted to corrupt them, and they were too naïve to say no.

Im certainly no suporter of KP, but my main concern would be how the ECB is run and how this is shown in the handling of the KP situation. He is just one player, and yet they keep giving him oxygen. At no time have they handled this situation well from start to finish, well when ever it does finish.

There are people still at the ECB from when Stanford flew down with his fake millions, and since then there has just been a general mismanagement that seems to show itself to the public with how they managed KP. How is the ECB allowed to get away with this as a national governing body of a game a lot of us are quite fond of?

Im pretty sure that if we acted like the ECB in our jobs we would be pretty quickly out of a job(unless we are a politician). The ECB have shown themselves to be petty, have been drawn in squabbles that should have been nipped in the bud and worse of all have shown the world how not to manage a succesfull team. They are as far from a proffesional body as I am from opening the batting for Australia.

If i was a English supporter, i would want heads to role, and would want to see a change at the ECB, starting at the top and making those changes as quick as possible.

This release doesn't reveal KP in a good light, but it's leak does show up the ECB badly, which echoes the problems KP had in dealing with them. My reaction was of the parable of the scorpion and the frog. The ECB reacted as was its nature, not at its word. No ethics and philosophy, just instinctive self preservation. And they have, as particularly they have since Downton had his name on the door, made things worse. Seems like the Telegraph and the Independent are distancing themselves from the ECB and wanting some answers.

Note, if KP called Swann the cricketers expletive in Sydney, Swann was no longer there, being back in the UK.

Collier has gone, by the way. Clarke is rumoured to be leaving soon to take a job at the ICC.

I must say I'm always astonished when I see photo's of the people who run the ECB, Giles apart they all have big round faces with jowls indicating a life of too much rich food and heavy port wine.
I saw a photo of Downton last week for the first time and he looks the same. I wonder what mould the new CEO has come out of. For a sporting organization their senior execs couldn't look less sporting. Personally I would be ashamed to look the way they do.

Ricky Iolanthe Ponting has agreed with KP over the behaviour of the bowlers.

Is that bullying? Some certainly went over the top though, including Swann and Sidebottom.

Now we're quoting what Aussies say suggests this thread is running out of steam. It's at this juncture we really need D/L.

Where is he? He normally has a very balanced view on Pietersen!

I'm wondering if when Colly was there, as focal point of the fielding effort, this didn't happen. Certainly, up until his retirement, the team was very good in the field. Since then, the fielding has been poor. Potentially because of the antagonism between the bowlers and the fielders.

We've run out of steam before the book is on sale?

Clearly Ricky might have an agenda, but the view of an opposition skipper is relevant as KP mentions that opposing players remarked upon the 'bullying'.
