If that didn't make it easy for them to decide that they no longer needed him I'll be amazed. The chances are that if it had been 6 centuries and 1 half century he'd still have been an England player.

What year was it he retired from ODIs ? then threw a tantrum ? was that pre-2012 ??

I guess at some level he's aware he won't play for England again, however much he wants it. Does he want to make an impression with his book, and hurt a few people. I'd be amazed if he didn't. He feels the revenge is justified. No one will get the last word. maybe whoever lives longest, and no one will care by then.

But as we know, the whole eleven were spiraling. KP covers that in his belief that micromanagement and the tour programme was burning the players out. If KP had to go on that account, so did Bell and Cook (and Trott and Prior).

don't bother putting it into context or anything tho powelly

he didn't want to retire from ODIs , he just wanted input into when and where he got rested as he was concerned about burnout given he was one of the few players at the time that played in all 3 formats

the ECB played hardline on that request however and even threw in the kicker that after he had made the decision re ODIs that it would be applied to t20s also

and the ironic thing is that the burnout issue has been recognised as a real issue since

If he did. And if the word means that. No one outside of the SA team has seen the texts. KP says he didn't say it, just didn't disagree with someone who said it. Maybe we'lll hear from the SA players one day. Flower made KP sign an affidavit to the point that KP never passed on info about the England team to SA. Which Kevin did, however crazy.

Strauss can't really contest his abuse of KP though, or what the word means.

No, but maybe he'll blow himself out soon. As I've mentioned he talks about discussing playing spin with Dravid. But I haven't got there.

Shortly afterwards Flower decided to just coach in Tests!

And England started to rest players.

They were not regarded as trouble makers as far as I know. But there you again using the 'comparisons of form when the subject is Pietersen. I should point out that at the end of the ashes series before he resigned, Flower said every player would be required to play CC cricket to prove their worth. Cook scored 386 runs in 3 games with 2 centuries, Bell 506 runs in 4 games with 2 centuries, both Prior and Trott well incapacitated. So the return of Cook and Bell was confirmed by their county form.
