Didn't according to Shakespeare, he often repeat " but Brutus is an honourable man"at Caesar's funeral. I wasn't there of course to verify this, as we were not in the England dressing room to verify KP's account of events in there.

Fair enough. I do know that speech off by heart, but I didn't go that far down. I'm still elated that you should liken me to a legendarily skilled orator, so let's not spoil it. I was happy enough with the slow witted, malleable Brutus.

Antony is long dead. We are fortunate in this circumstance to have a live emissary from the dressing room.

In the battles that followed the murder of Caesar I was on the side of Brutus, another losing cause I've supported.

Not this time though. KP is the losing cause here.

This was on HIGNFY tonight.

Not the thread, but the book.

It was their third item which I suppose highlights it's importance given the relatively minor popularity of cricket in the country (in comparison to other sports).

I voted UKIP.

Oh, wrong divisive comment,

Won't be 800 posts by midnight.

I suppose I could have spread these out.

Rather than just point out where he felt they had treated him badly? They ended his contract because they did't want him because of his attitude, not because he couldn't score enough runs.

I thought that KP was told they weren't going to pick him for the 20/20 World Cup and the ODIs but didn't say anything about Tests. He decided that they probably wouldn't pick him for Tests either and wanted to manage his own time in the IPL so he decided to cancel his central contract. I think the ECB picked a bad time to get rid of him because people associate his end to be because England lost 0-5. They should have said they are giving him a rest to sort out his knee instead. Waited until the summer and then sorted out all the things they were unhappy with and given him a final warning. Also that he would have to get cc runs. He says he doesn't know why they sacked him. We don't know either. Then again the selectors never given a reason why anyone is dropped.

Read 10 chapters yesterday night. Author has used very simple language which is easy to understand what KP wants to convey to the readers. The book is more interesting due to controversies than the other autobiography that i have partly read thus far about "Sunil Gavaskar" written by Prabhudesai. The "SMG" one is more interesting in the aspect that there are stories of India-Pakistan matches and incidents with Pak players. Luckily, both the autobiographies i have are good in some aspect or other. Man management was not such a problem relatively if "SMG" is to be trusted.

Rahul's advice of playing the spinner without pads in nets to sort out KP's problem against lefties carries a risk of getting injured. Even the 70 kph delvieries can cause a problem. Some bowler in the net might slip in the faster one at 90 kph. Makeshift first footwork to go on the front foot was the key to the advise. Typical from a Indian batsman who are bought up on such wickets where it is easy to play on front foot due to lack of bounce. He then says that there are more scoring opportunities on the back foot rather than front foot, against spinners. But KP had the confidence to take on the flighted delivery and play a more scoring shot on the front foot than on the back foot. He also admits that not planting the front foot early while trying to move forward is a subconcsious thing. This is a different one which i was not aware of until i read it. The other advise of trying to judge length from the action of the bowler is pretty well known to everyone in our club by now. The release point concept. Some West Indian player had talked about it which was heard by someone in our club and it became a well known concept. That is one which works more oftne than not, if one factors in the speed of the arm which may bring some variation to the length.

A shame if only because England lack any real star appeal. The new people being brought through the system like Root and Ballance, have done well, but aren't exciting players yet. Maybe Buttler will fill that role. Now KP has gone, probably only Cook has a recognition factor that goes beyond the cricket supporters.

Yes, i read that again now in book. I cannot recollect which title it is under but the content wherein he mentions that anything can change in cricket is enough reference to the point that he would want to play for England in the case of a change.

Arthur, if they left him out for his attitude it is fair (only if other players were also given same punishment) because i do feel that a player should not be texting something wrong about his team player or captain when the series is happening against the players whom he is messaging. Having said that, Prior abusing Trott and juniors for fielding lapses and forcing to apologize was a more severe incident against team spirit. Bullying from other seniors (Broad, Swann and Jimmy) was also more severe than that text message. Okay KP acted against team spirit, but Prior/Jimmy/Broad and Swann did worse things against team spirit. Why were they spared. Why only KP was chosen as a culprit for spoiling team spirit when there were clearly few others who had done more bad.

Shouting at a player during a game for bad fielding like Prior seems to have done is something a captain and/or coach might have a word about. On the other hand, texting an opposition captain and allegedly calling your own captain a .... is a different kettle of fish.

Both are indeed different incident of spoiling team spirit.

But in one incident a group of England players spoiled team spirit (Bullying, bowler and keeper shouting at fielders) whenever such fielding lapses happened and even in dressing room. What is more dangerous to team spirit ? One individual sending one text sms against his player or a group of 4 or more individuals bullying the team players.

My opinion is that everyone did wrong to varying degrees but only one was punished, which is not at all fair.
