8-0..........wow!

Spurs were a little unlucky to have the man sent off, and of course miss a pen, though it was a good save.

MOTD will be good viewing tonight.

Sunderland weren't actually that bad. For the first 20 mins they were comfortably the best team. The only reason we took the lead was because of the highly comical OG from one of the worst defenders the PL has ever seen.

But once we went 4-0 up, Sunderland just jacked in the towel. Taking Brown off at HT was a terrible move from Poyet. As was playing Vergini and Wickham from the start.

at risk of incurring the wrath of saints fans , sunderland can consider themselves a bit unlucky

at 2-0 that was a stonewall penalty they had turned down , and would probably have meant the keeper being sent off as well

if the game is back to 2-1 and sunderland with a man advantage you would think the rest of the game would have been very different

no excuse for how badly sunderland capitulated in the second half tho

Not a red for me, no way. Fletcher had knocked the ball past Forster before there was any contact, and it was on its way straight out of play. Correct decision there.

But as for a penalty, well I sit behind that goal and I'd have had no complaints had a penalty been given. No red, but yeah, a penalty. Not that I think it would have changed anything.

if he gives the penalty he would have to send him off imo

Southampton played great and took advantage of a very poor sunderland , you just never know how the game might have changed had that been given tho

But the rule is no longer red card for being last man. It's red card for denying a goal scoring opportunity. And there was no denying of a goal scoring, because Fletcher had knocked the ball far too far.

Even a yellow card would have been very harsh for me.

I don't think its a penalty, and Alan Smith on Sky said the same thing, Forster didn't deviate he was still and Fletcher made the contact with him, no pen.

It was never an own goal for the 4th goal, Pelle scored a hat-trick today and the sooner the dubious goal committee award him it, the better.

Definite pen for me. Not sure of the rule, but the ball had definitely gone. Southampton's first was a cracking finish. The fourth was an og powelly.

I've not timed them, but there seems to be more of the play shown in the city-spurs game.
