Without Cook, England will get to the last eight.
Without Moores they would get to the last four
Without Flower, they would make the semis
Without Downton, they would get to the final.
Without Clarke, they will win the whole thing.
I always say that everybody's right.

Although this is great news, it still shows that England are going into the WC and still don't have a clue what side to pick.

I'm a little surprised by the news. He started well, but that was as good as it got. He never really should have not got the job, in all honesty. Not a great ODI player, and as it turned out, not a great skipper.

A sensible decision, hopefully based on cricketing reasons. I know some are celebrating but I have found the whole story since our Ashes win in 2013 a very sad and sorry episode in English cricket.

Good luck to the squad whoever's chosen - but like in many things we should be careful for who or what we wish for.

England now have an Irish captain, where are the Black and Tans when you need them.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Downton said he and Moores spent a week thinking about the captaincy before the SL series and decided Cook had to stay. Now, there is a change, after a series that might have been useful to a new captain and with time even tighter. Why did they not make this decision before?

I suppose the big question is now will they actually commit to hales as opener or go back to bell , which would kinda be a "out of the frying pan into the fire" kinda situation

I think Bell will probably be in the squad - how Hales and Ali handle the pace and bounce of the likes of Johnson we'll have to see. Hales. I believe has played in the Big Bash - still not the same as international ODIs.

Don't worry rich, pretty sure Hales and Ali will start - but Bell is a much better bet as reserve than Cook.

I might be a Bell fan but won't lose any sleep if he's not in the squad - I don't play favorites
