I don't think we will get to play either of these sides Durhamfootman - which is probably just as well as we are now captained by an Irishman. This game used to be easy to follow !!!!!!!

Cooky says he's gutted which is understandable, but he can't complain at the chances he was endlessly given. It still came as a surprise as it seemed to me he was cemented into the job.

Looks like Cook is going to give darts a go.

Reckon Cook will average more in 1 leg of darts than he has in ODIs this year

I dug up a stat about Cook's batting in Tests. Over the past two years, he has burned though four opening partners, who are not thought to have done enough to stay in the side (that is a common view of Robson though he has yet to be dropped). In the 22 games of that period:

Cook has scored 1306 runs with two hundreds, at 33.5.

His partner (Robson, Compton, Carberry, Root) has scored 1247 runs with four hundreds at 31.5.

So more or less the same. But Cook has been burning through partners like a teenage rock star. And when those partners are stepped down, they are deemed to have failed.

An interesting observation there Arthur.

Secretly hoping Robson does more than Lyth and Lees in the Lions tour of South Africa, don't want the Yorkshire openers getting mucked about by the ECB like Bairstow did.

Lyth is a cert to be the next England cap (is that 666?) I suppose it depends on the Lions tour. I'm not sure a pace bowler is going to break through soon. A second spinner may be capped in UAE. But Lyth will probably go to WI and be a practice ton away from the side.

Possibility of Jacky Brooks receiving a test call up for the Carribean if Anderson or Broad get rested, also Adil Rashid could feature as a 2nd spinner or a main spinner if Moeen Ali misses a game.

he won

they showed it before the start of the t20 this morning when there was a late start to the game in Hobart

cook actually scored pretty well but both struggled on the double before cook eventually hit double 11 to win it

Well it's a game his footwork more naturally suits.

A rest? Anderson and Broad have had 4 months off. How many overs will they bowl in the WC, 50?
Anderson won't want to miss his 100th Test.

I think Rashid will be in the squad and we might play two spinners in all the matches.
