Freddie & KP are mates.

It would be good to see him play but it ain't gonna happen.

The KP saga has never gone away.

The whole summer and now the winter has always had him somewhere in the wings where HE is the story and not the England cricket team.

Well done Paul Downton. Even his manager couldn't get KP this amount of publicity.

it was just banter between KP and the commentators when he was mic'd up , I was amazed when it was being reported as anything serious

kinda makes your point above aidan when even something as innocuous as this gets on the front page of the bbc website yesterday

The PM's XI is done and dusted anyway. Selectors have opted for Chris Rogers to replace Mussey.

Pity. I would like the never ending saga to get more air.

There's not much to learn from Broad saying KP shouldn't have been sacked. But it is an implied criticism of Paul Downton.

Broad's comments are probably the fairest attempts to adress the issue we've heard from a current player.

I think what Broad implied was that they should have handled the incident in a more politically "correct" way. Don't think he is saying KP shouldn't have been sacked, he is just saying they could have just asked him to go back to his county and then make excuses for not picking him up again. Result is the same, but without the repercussions that are currently happening. A slow death, make him sweat, keep him quiet for a longer time. People wouldn't have been so interested in his version if he was away from the limelight for 2 years...
He'll do well as a politician - Broad.

Yes. Only problem is that he then realised what he said, so to attempt to balance it out, he then said "The three Test matches we won in the summer against India were probably the strongest performances I’ve played in in the 74 I’ve played, and they were without Kevin Pietersen" which is complete nonsense.

Yes, good point Matt about the wins v India.

And sacking KP was Downton's flagship decision (probably with Flower). It is a significant criticism by Broad. Though it's in everyone's interest to ignore it.

Downton did it to show who was boss IMO.

New broom doing a bit of power-sweeping.

Well it seems the switch was jammed as Downto n both sucks and blows.
