Allenby can't buy a run this season, bet he gets a big one today.

Dawson gets him, only 1 wicket away from Bates and the long tail.

You've got to hope that Dawson sees his bowling as a way of securing his place in our four-day team - because if he does, then he'll work on it. And then work on it. And then work on it.

Allowing us to pick him as a sole spinner opens up the chance of us either strengthening our batting, or playing four seamers plus Ervine as fifth seamer. And indeed when/if that fourth seamer is Wood, it has the dual effect of strengthening our batting too somewhat.

We've fought back well in this game, and so long as keep control of these 10 overs, then the new ball could well turn the game right on its head if we use it well.

Bit of rain around this morning, brightening up this afternoon. By the time they get on the pitch this game is going to be quite a way behind with only 6 wickets down on day one. Already resigned to a draw being the best result for Hants, especially with Vince out, which isn't a bad result.

Wonder if we can win a home game at the Ageas this season in the CC?

Stopped raining for about 30 minutes here but has been pretty heavy drizzle since 11.30am. No play before lunch.
