I don't see the hype living here in the states so that's probably fortunate.

I am glad not to be able to hear the Barmy Army though on my feed. That use to drive me crazy.

Anyone know what happened to them?

agree with that Barmy army sound terrible on the telly but are actually quite good at the ground though.

They need some new songs like maybe instead of chanting "barmy army, barmy army,barmy army, barmy army,barmy army, barmy army."

They could switch it up a bit and try "army barmy, army barmy,army barmy, army barmy,army barmy, army barmy"

Obviously there's hype and I strongly don't like the series being more frequent. And I find the anthems and the flag waving a bit depressing (but that's me). But really, all we're talking about here is people getting excited about something, and that's not really a bad thing. If a few less paSSIONATE PEOPLE GET CAUGHT UP iN IT, SO MUCH THE BETTER. And, are most people gullible enough to believe everything they hear? Probably not. I don't think any of this matters, not even as much as the ECB taking the game off fta. That matters.

I can't even remember the last Ashes test I went, must have been more than 25 years ago, but I don't remember them being around then. So I can't say I've ever experienced them at the ground.

I've heard/seen them at Edgbaston, but that was on the other side of the ground, which was close enough.

Yep I agree, too much cricket ruins the mystique. There might be a better word but that'll do for now.

Missed the flag thing except for the boys running between them after tea. What was that all about. It'll be like the AFL soon where they run through a giant banner.

Ignoring the fact (a) the umpire didn't give it out and (b) Clarke didn't review that decision.

Yeah, we really missed a trick with DRS in that series, and Twatto using one up every time he was trapped in front wasn't helping either. As for the tall English medium pace bowler, he'll be getting stick from the Oz crowd until the end of time.

Then why would players and fans say only Ashes record and matches matter all the rest is irrelevant.
Also scary enough I think many english fans think only Ashes series matter to all the players in the world even though only England and Australia play it.
one of my uni mates actually said Ian botham is a better cricketer than Imran khan because he won ashes and he was being serious.
so many like him.

I don't mind the hype of the ashes or people getting excited for it but too suggest only Ashes matter, everything else is irrelevant, Ashes is the pinnacle of the game is stupid and not on in my opinion.

Most people chose the Ashes option and didn't even care about results of the other series.
most people said they would be happy with ashes victory since that the only cricket that matters and don't care about the other results or series.
plus I hate the fact England use the Ashes as an excuse for not doing well in the World cup.

Enjoy the Ashes but it really isn't all that matter in Cricket.


Seeing how many people only care about the Ashes would suggest lots of people are gullible.

Said before I like the Ashes but don't like the importance attached to it especially since only 2 sides ever win the ashes.

I'm not a fan of the walker, but if that's their prerogative then so be it. Unfortunately the bowling team will never return the favour to you by calling you back when they know you're not out.

Like when Flintoff knew the ball came off the glove that wasn't on the bat in 2005. He did console Lee whom also knew, but fat load of good that did.
