In other news, Dawson is recalled from his loan spell (about two weeks early). That suggests that he's certain to play in the four day game vs Durham - probably in place of Terry (which I agree with). It may also lead to him playing in our final t20 group game, possibly at Crane's expense (or maybe Gatting or Bird).

How bloomin' frustarting is this team , from not looking like ever winning a game again we suddenly beat two of the major contenders but manage to lose horribly inbetween ?

Unless we're going to produce a turning wicket - which might not actually be a bad shout, given that we need some wins and there's little point producing a seamers wicket given that Durham are the opposition - then I imagine that the XI will be Dawson, Adams, Carberry, Vince (c), Smith, Gatting, Wheater, Berg, Briggs, Bird, Tomlinson.

The only available person to us with a Championship 100 to his name this season. The guy who has made two 50s in his last three t20 knocks, over the past nine days. Makes sense to drop him.

"Personal reasons" behind Wheater not being available. Yeah...

So why was McManus named in the squad yesterday, alongside Wheater? How come these personal reasons didn't stop Wheater playing on Friday night?

Maybe it's me being cynical. Maybe Wheater does have personal reason. But so often these days "personal reasons" is the line given out, rather than "dropped". Take Brad Haddin at the moment. So it becomes very difficult for me to believe.

It's cost 49 runs, but Dawson does now get Borthwick out. And that now makes it our session.

And yes, it was McManus who scored the 100s early last season. Although this season, Alsop has been out performing McManus.

Durham have only got one more batting point than us so I'm guessing they tend to score their runs in the second innings.

91/4 is a pretty good start by our standards
It was 9/4 at one stage last week!
Seriously though, Borthwick out just now is a massive blow and Hampshire well in top. Never know what will happen with the rest of the middle order batting, they are capable of scoring a lot of runs but far more likely to collapse and leave the lower order desperately trying to get a half respectable score.
