91/4 is a pretty good start by our standards
It was 9/4 at one stage last week!
Seriously though, Borthwick out just now is a massive blow and Hampshire well in top. Never know what will happen with the rest of the middle order batting, they are capable of scoring a lot of runs but far more likely to collapse and leave the lower order desperately trying to get a half respectable score.

Says a lot about our bowling then (and catching!)

I'd love to be 91-4 when we bat. And hell, if we can go all the way and get one batting point, then it's party time.

We're keeping it fairly tight, at least that's one crumb of comfort. Slow their scoring down enough to try and ensure that we lose on day four, not on day three.

Wheater played for the second XI yesterday (scoring a half century). Those personal problems cleared up quickly then... (Wood, Briggs, Terry, and Ashraf also played)

God knows what our batting line-up will look like come our next four day team. Runs for Gatting (again) and McManus would suggest that both will start next time out, but before we play again we have our t20 tomorrow and six one-day matches. God knows who will score runs during that time, and who ultimately be in any sort of form come that next four day game. We might also have Ervine back for that game.

It's a shame that Dawson's bowling isn't of sufficient quality to get him a place in the team based primarily on that. Could have him coming in no.8 otherwise.

Well done to the lads for hanging on there today. It may yet pay dividends. But right now, I don't really care. And we didn't deserve it.
