Completely agree.... if Hot Spot didnt show the edge for Clark, then it should be turned off and not used for the rest of the test as its reliablility is questioned.

Second edge goes for review, and bam, no hot spot but a sound.

Agree but at least the 3rd umpire was consistent. It would have been embarrassing if Root was given not out when the same results gave Clarke out. Regardless of the original umpire decision.

I remember someone either on here or 606 talking about cavitation effects when the ball passes close to the edge of the bat creating a sound.

Closest we've had to a close finish was when Mitchell J was smashing it around at the end of the Cardiff test and they got within about 80.

Me and Delta had a long discussion about sound recording, its inaccuracies and such. I think it might be on the DRS discussion thread, but its a pseudo science and very inaccurate imo. If you read the past articles you can see the clear picture.
