I pointed out a few days ago to expect spin at Sharjah but this is much more than we saw in the test match.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Is this still an issue, or do we just assume the worse due to it being Pakistan?

The ball is turning well enough for Pakistani spinners to crate gap between bat and pad. A specialist bowler who could bowl a good doosra on such a wicket would have brought Pakistan back into this game here.
