Swansea spent the least of any Premier League club this year, and in Monk's time they sold Bony and lost Michu to injury, the two most influential players he inherited. I dont know what the club expected, as I thought Monk had that team punching above their weight for a long time.

When teams like Watford come up and splash the cash, you are going to get taken over eventually. You cant spend 7 million a year and expect miracles.

Really really bad decision for me. He impressed me a lot, Monk, and I hope he can get back into football soon and prove Swansea wrong.

Swansea make it 1-1 against Man City in the 90th minute and still can't hang on :no jammy city

Man Utd XI: De Gea, Varela, McNair, Blind, Jackson, Fellaini, Carrick, Mata, Depay, Lingard, Martial.

wow - that side is decimated and the bench is Jones, Young, Romero, Powell, Schneiderlin, Tuanzebe, Pereira

Jones and Schneiderlin must not be fit enough to start - also not sure where Herrera is - is he injured too?

Young has clearly upset LvG

Already 1-0 Bournemouth. Goal scored directly from a corner! Don't see that too often.

Fortuitous goal from Fellaini.

That's the only action I've seen of the match so I can't tell if the scoreline so far is fair.

LvG's latest master strategy - see if there is any player that looks like they might score for us ... and take them off. Mata was the only threat the other day and LvG subbed him, and today Fellaini was the only one that looked threatening and LvG subbed him :strop

He went to Burnley and then he came back....!!

I guess it was our best chance to beat United with the side they were forced to put out. I ain't complaining.

Special mention for Harry Arter who suffered the loss of a child during birth this week. Don't know how he managed to play today, top man.

My weekend summary

*Arsenal (as ever) need a new striker in January
*Villa are going down.
*LVG should stay.
"It has been said of the unseen army of the dead, on their everlasting march, that when they are passing a rural cricket ground the Englishman falls out of the ranks for a moment to look over the gate and smile."

Reminds me of the nice moment Billy Sharp scored that goal days after his kid died, and the sensible referee allowed him to get away with removing his shirt.

Newcastle deserve this win after their second half performance, Spurs have been pretty abject in the second 45. Can't totally blame Europa League because Kane didn't play, and he's looked sluggish all game.
