They were expecting more, although the weather was ordinary. G-town is actually my home town and Kardinia Park could, IMHO, host international cricket.

I find it incredible that so many people turned up just for a warm up match.

Maybe Melbourne Renegades and Victoria should play some of their matches there.

You're right, Dan, the Renegades should play a few games there. Help set them apart from those poofy Stars, as the team of the people, and a team for Victoria, not just Melbournites.

Surprising that we don't hear of Cricket Victoria taking the Shield games on the road - as we do with NSW, playing in Coffs Harbour, Newcastle, even Canberra(?), as well as Bankstown and other urban venues. I think the furtherest we hear of the Vics travelling is 2 miles down the road to the Junction Oval. (which is up there with the SCG these days, isn't it - unsuitable for First Class Cricket?)

I tend to think that CA are musing over the possibility of expansion of the BBL in the near future. They've had a good look at Canberra, which would seem to be a logical candidate. Kardina Park (home of the Geelong Cats in the AFL) and Metricon Stadium (home of the Gold Coast Suns) can hold considerably more spectators than Manuka Oval. A second Adelaide based team could also be a possibility.

an interesting one. He's exactly the sort of player who I would normally pick for my FL team, because he is likely to be highly inexpensive, pick up wickets and lots of bonus points..... but he equally might only play every other game or, if he does start every match, could easily break down down after the first or second match.

"I get frustrated at times," Bravo said, "not only for myself but for all the other cricketers, Chris Gayle, Darren Sammy, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, we all want to represent West Indies. But sometimes the way we have been treated over the years … why should we actually fight with West Indies' cricket where the rest of the world opens their arms for us? Yes they pay us well but at the same time we never feel disrespect when we play for those teams around the world. We feel love. We feel well-respected. Do we get that type of treatment back in the region? No we don't."

Thunder look just as useless this year. Russell can't save them every game.

Thunder get to a decent score in the end. 158/4.

Took Hussey a while but he got going after he reached fifty. 82* off 60.

Brought Russell in way too late though.

Tonight was Sydney Thunder's first ever win over the Sydney Sixers.
