my advice to everyone is to ensure you have a couple of associate players in your side. Last time, I didn't and I effectively started the competition hundreds of points behind the ones who did (as many as 700 points, IIRC) and never got close to catching up
the risk, of course, is that associates get knocked out at the end of the prelims, but if your players have a good prelim before being sent home, it can still be worth it. After all a decent Ireland player can rack up up a shed load of points against the likes of Oman and Hong Kong even if Ireland miss out on the super 10's at the hands of Banga or Zim(for example). It is entirely possible that someone like Kevin O'Brien can hit a 60 ball hundred against Oman and then take 4 wickets for nowt afterwards, racking up 300 points in the one match
I confess to having some reservations about the quality of some of these teams and the way their performances may skew the FL before the big boys even start playing
I guess I just crack on and assess it afterwards
