SL going to lose on a controversial catching decision. I didn't see that coming when I said they might make the semis.

They might have lost quicker if the decision had gone their way. We want SL to lose don't we or is it too early to say yet?

England actually need Sri lanka to win a game against the big boys.
they need 4 pt so South Africa get 4 points as well.

the result didn't actually help england since now they need WI to beat SA.
If SA win england are likely to be out on NRR.

England will be better off if WI win all their games now. It seems to be expected that England will beat SL, so if they beat Afg, they'd go through and probably play NZ. If WI lose to SA, it's a three way pile up for two places and it'll be down to NRR.

and we will go out after getting thrashed by the windies and south africa only losing narrowly to us

that could very easily happen as this sri lanka team looks very weak

we could do with thrashing afghanistan, bowl first and try to knock it off very quickly

india have exactly the same problem after getting thrashed by new zealand

Nope NRR not really coming into play in india group since Pakistan need to beat NZ and Aus for teams to be tie on 6pt
or pak beating Australia and then Australia beating india would mean 3 teams tied on 4.

basically with 4 or 5 top teams chances are teams will drop points making it unlikely NRR would matter for qualification.

That was the way I was looking at it. If WI win all their games and we win our remaining two then we're through full stop. A lot of other combinations are going to end up with NRR coming into play.

Afghans certainly put the frighteners on SA. Could have been theirs on a different day.

Seems Sri Lanka are going to give their trophy up without a fight.

Assuming WI beat Afg: even if we win both remaining games, we will more than likely need SA to lose one of theirs.
