I hated the idea of cameras in cricket, but its been pretty well successful. Goals like that have no excuse, 5 seconds and the video ref gives the clear and right decision

They don't even have to make to big a deal of it. Bloke watching the replay miked up to the ref, sorted.

I guess there is always the (rightful) argument that some sports have buggered the video thing up. NFL has some obscene stoppages in it, at times they even have to call people in NFL Headquarters to discuss rules while people wait for 15 minutes.... at times in the rugby world cup it was endless.

don't bank on it

too little, too late

Sunderland will be the team to stay up and the Falcons look to have saved themselves, so at least if Newcastle go down it won't be a complete disaster for the region

A great point for Newcastle. Sunderland are in fine form though so will be hard to overtake and have the game in hand.

For me it looks good for Sunderland at present, but Rafa has turned it around for Newcastle, even if it is a little too late. With the levels of money coming into the Premier league next year, Ashley like Lerner has chosen the wrong year to go down.

Ashley finally spent a lot of money this last summer in the transfer market after years of minimal investment in the playing squad. But they all seem like poor buys at present. A double whammy, big expenditure too late whilst missing out on the riches to come.

Still Rafa might pull something out of the bag.

People talk of Norwich like they are down, but people ignore two facts....

(a) Over the last 5 matches, Norwich have scored the most points. So this idea that others have the form is not true.
(b) Norwich arent the ones playing catch up.

Sunderlands next three games....... Arsenal, Chelsea and Stoke...... struggling to see a point in that list for them, especially as the easiest game on paper is away.

Newcastle need to go to Anfield and play Tottenham chasing a title. They get a free win at Aston Villa, but that only makes up the gap currently between them.

Norwich have home ties against Watford, Everton away and then Emirates and Man United at home...... two winnable games there, which I expect is all they need.

I favour Norwich.

I have heard that Sunderland are apparently hitting form, but anyone who watched the game against Norwich would have seen the home team essentially batter the away team, but get tremendously bad luck..... and a dodgy referee who let Sunderland off two penalties. Norwich hit the post twice and the bar, forced 8 saves from Mannone, and were much the better team despite playing against 12 men all afternoon.

Howard Webb stated he felt both tow of three possible penalty shouts were valid, Lee Cattermole twice cleared off the line, they hit the woodwork three times, and Sunderland scored with every chance they had on target. Had Norwich been given a penalty in the second half at 1-0, its a different result. And the first Mbokani foul was a stonewaller. In fact, the Sundrland back two man handled him all game.

Just feel at present everything is going against Norwich. Norwich and Newcastle all have 5 points from their last 5 games. Sunderland has 6 and have only lost once in the last 6 games. That was to Leicester.
Sunderland in theory have it in their own hands, and have the best goal difference of the bottom 3.

Who is going down will be harder to pick than a broken nose.

While Norwich did have spells where they controlled the game most of their efforts were from distance and Sunderland did create the clear cut chances which they mostly converted.

The scoreline was flattering on Sunderland for sure, but for an ex Norwich player and fan to come out afterwards and say that Norwich were outplayed in every department suggests that your summary is a tad inaccurate.

I reckon Newcastle will drop. Sunderland have Big Sam, and despite how much I don't like the bloke, he will probably be the difference.
