Portugal are probably the team we'd least like to play.

Iceland - I'd have them and their luck might run out by then.

Austria - not the team they used to be. Probably won't get through.

Hungary - Always dark horses. Can be tricky on their day.

I'd take Iceland or Austria then Hungary then Portugal, but not overly bothered by any of them.

Definitely avoid Portugal.

We'd show Ronaldo too much respect. He'd go down in the box and the ref will give him a penalty without hesitation.

That's because every time he got near the ball the opposition clattered him.

Wasn't easy, running at full pace and getting an effective shot away, probably the hardest skill in football.

Got it on target from an angle, so it was a fair effort.

Vardy was given no space in the second half once Slovakia sat back. He was our main threat in the first half. Pity he couldn't take our best chance.

I reckon Lallana's was the best, centrally placed, 16 yards out with just the keeper to beat and time to place the shot. But as we know all his shots are straight at the keeper.

Sorry, but Kane came on with 5 minutes left and touched the ball probably more than Vardy......

ESPN sums up Vardy's contributions perfectly......

Vardy's in the team to provide some dynamism, but for all the good he did, he might as well have been sitting on the touchline in a deckchair, sipping plastic cups of UEFA-endorsed, watered-down lager.

Vardy has his use in an open and quick game, but he is a passenger in teams that play that way.

Yeah maybe. The defender done well to be fair.

So many shots were blocked. Very frustrating but good defending.

Lallana has missed 3 or 4 decent chances, but to be fair to him England look better with him on the field. Problem is he never makes it much past 60 minutes before he looks spent.

Kane may have touched the ball a few times but all of them were ineffective. He is absolutely desperate to get back a bit of form but the more desperate you get the more you seem to fail.

Sturridge shows the odd moment of brilliance but is largely ineffective and not much of a team player.

After all that Rashford may be the answer? Who knows.

Sturridge hardly ever plays the obvious ball. It's annoying when you're at home watching but at least the defenders can't read him either.

He also has this need to beat players and get a shot off without much regard for what his teammates are doing. A bit Ronaldoesque at times but not as good.

Could you name one moment other than Vardy's chance where he made any kind of contribution? As I said, he might play better in an open game against a better team, but he was utterly redundant in this match for all but 10 seconds. There was a cross at the end where Clyne puts it in with 94 minutes gone, and Kane was the only one attacking the six yard box. At 0-0 and with a last throw of the dice, where was Vardy? He should be busting his lungs to attack the box.

I could say the same of many though. I believe the only other person in the box was Rooney.... when 90 are up and your team's most advanced player is 30 yards from his own goalkeeper, you put 7 men in the box and start launching them like Howitzers. That more than anything annoyed me last night. Right at the end you had 9 men outside the box as they were putting crosses in.
