Hee was once touted as a future England player but I suspect that ship has sailed.

Looks like his best years coincided with England having their best middle order since the fifties. And when they were scattered, Ballance came in and did well, and Taylor was due a chance. Maybe deserved a pure batting chance ahead of Bairstow, and Vince, though. Maybe it'll happen now. England's batting looks frail, possibly even more so now Root is in the top order.

He scores runs consistently in the 1st div. of the CC which is NOT a pre requisite for test selection. Recent selections are really vindicating the selectors-Vince, Ballance, Finn. Can't see Strauss tolerating them for much longer.
