If the ball is seaming Anderson and broad or Bowlers generally will be more of an handful than if the ball is only swinging in a road.

Suspecf most of those great spells happened in far more helpful conditions and their was more movement of the pitch.

Yeah. And they would be more dangerous if they bowled at 400mph every ball too. Of course uneven bounce, seaming monsterous lengths and looping swing is much tougher than JUST swing.

But even the best batters in the world struggle when a bowler really starts to get the ball to talk.

A certain Sachin Tendulkar has a pretty poor record against a certain Jimmy Anderson. He has got him out buckets of times

Amir swung it quite a bit with the new ball late yesterday evening, but that was it really. One over he bowled to Anderson at the end had Anderson chasing shadows, and had it been to a half decent batsman he probably would have taken wickets. Anderson wasnt anywhere near good enough to get bat on it, and ended up charging at the bowling and trying to slog.

Once Ali and Ballance got in you felt Pakistan would struggle to remove two batters looking to not play dangerous shots.

Have to admire the way these two batsmen have played here. Not taking any chances ; watchful , but quick to pick up their singles when they can... Azhar had his bit of luck ; but they are weathering some pretty handy bowling right at the moment ; and in doing so potentially setting things up for Misbah and co later on.

The last ball of that Anderson over probably highlights the danger of swing. Bowled the inswing and finally got the ball to move, and Ali didnt get his bat near it.

I dont think anyone watching yesterday thought that. I certainly posted something questioning the same opinion before play today. I think a batting team would fancy 400-450 on this deck if they do well

300-350 is the minimum

Exactly my point how anyone thought England would cause mayhem in this pitch is beyond me.
