If we're still batting at close we'd have a lead around 300 I reckon.

It would be a brave skipper who would declare with a lead of 300 when the opposition have a full day to get them.


Cook is certainly not known for brave captaincy decisions.

If I read the cricinfo site correctly, Vince has had 36 dot balls from Yasir. That is atrocious batting against a non spinning slow bowler. If such an innings is seen as good enough to save his test career the selectors must be sacked.

Vince is being very watchful, given he's been given inordinate criticism for getting out going after balls he shouldn't be playing at it seems pretty odd to be giving him stick for grinding out an innings.

It's one thing to put away his wild swings outside off to pace bowling but Yasir offers opportunities to score that Hales, Cook and even Root take but he defends. Watchfulness is fine but stagnation is not.
