He is fit. He played a full 85 minutes vs Watford the day before the squad met up, but the team was picked 4 days before without him on the grounds of straight forward selection. Id pick him over Henderson anyday.

Even Oxlade-Chamberlain is better than Henderson. You need a player in that role who is willing to move the ball quickly. With Henderson/Rooney in that central midfield, ice ages go by before the ball gets distributed, and that cuts the space for everyone in front. Teams have no ambition to move forward against England, so its them that needs to add speed into the game. Henderson just isnt quick enough in those environments.

It would be nice to have a coach who seemingly understands football tactics. Against a team like Slovenia playing someone like Walcott is a waste of time. Walcott has natural pace and ability, but its only useful when the space is there and his poor decision making or lack of precision in his passing isnt a factor. A team that puts 8 men in front of the ball are going to love defending against him.

And Rashford should of been the first name on the team sheet for games like this. Someone who is spontaneous and quick enough to run at players with the ball and beat them to enter the box. There is something real quality about Marcus, something beautifully uncomplex. In the first minute of a game he says to himself "Im quicker than this right back" and thats it.... knock, run, knock, run.... helll roast FBs all day.

Robben was one of the best players Ive seen, and he essentially had one skill. Run at FB, cut inside to beat him, shoot across goal or cross..... magic. Makes things happen in tight games

England can bloody well leave Wilshere alone!

He still hasn't played 90 minutes in two years.

dreadful performance last night, no intent, lacked going forward, although Townsend injected something when he came on, he was impressive, defensively all over the place and too many indidvidual errors...Joe Hart was the stand out last night, kept us in the game!

Don't worry Aidan, the EFL Trophy will provide a good platform for John Stones to get some tournament exposure under his belt against League Two opposition. Same with Jamie Vardy and Jordan Pickford.

I thought the second half was quite entertaining, just of a poor standard.

Yep, that is true. It is unusual for Hart to escape criticism.
