I don't support england in Cricket, anyway reckon this forum should be changed to England cricket match special considering no one is allowed to support for any other team or dare to criticise England cricket team.

There seems to be tail wind for Duckett batting at four, which I'm not sure the England party has done anything to encourage. Will they field two debutants in the top four? Away from home?

I can see the coach might feel differently from the selectors, but they are working together and the coach is a selector. If the team is picked to spite the squad, they really are in trouble. And the system isn't working. A fairly orthodox squad was picked full of pace options. And yet many are saying they'll pick two plus Stokes. They took Gary Ballance among few experienced batting options, but they're going to leave him out? They've packed the squad with spinning all rounders...

If I had a quid to put on the team I expect, it'll be four seamers, two spinning all rounders and Ballance at four. If it's not, I wonder why the squad is like it is.

Thought it was obvious that england picked a longer/bigger squad because the squad is for all 7 test in asia plus it was reported by broad in the daily mail, that the plan originally was that Anderson play one test in Bangladesh and Broad plays one test in Bangladesh.
plus they probably wanted option in india considering the players will be based in Loughbourough when the india series starts or in UAE for the last 2 test in india.

Edit plus it should be noted England lions are not doing anything when the test matches are played, so they really need a larger squad so the reserves are having nets in india or actually nearby with some game time experience.
reckon if England lions actually played a series in Sri lanka or UAE then the squad would be slightly smaller with not too many pace options in it.

Anyway telegraph reporting that Duckett will make his debut but england are not sure if he is opening yet.
At the moment they wandering if Duckett is capable of opening in Australia not sure why that is a consideration at the moment considering the Ashes is 18 months away and 14 test matches away, lol what they going to do if Hameed fails in the next 7 test drop him.
then again no surprise the pathetic ashes are always the main priority in English cricket.

India selected an 18 or 19 man squad for england in 2014 for the same reason that the bench basically were in england and had some game time rather than be stuck in india doing nothing.

Really not sure why large squad get criticised, really always better having extra players than being one or two players short.

Also should be noted the 5 test in india are coming quick and fast, doesn't have the time/space of an ashes tour does.
really the series finishes about 2 weeks quicker than an ashes series would.
so if England have to send a replacement they cutting it fine to make it on time, especially to places like Visakhapatnam, Rajkot.
Really makes more sense to bring them in earlier, considering it doesn't actually cost that much more to take 1 or 2 extra players.

wonder what Daily mail would say if a terrorist attack actually takes place, considering any slight attack in bangladesh will see all the players take the next flight to UAE.

Yes it would be nice to have all the players take part, but crazy to attack players for missing the tour considering the risk of playing in the country is quite huge.
really if you are 100% guaranteed in the ODI team not sure I would take the risk of touring Bangladesh for a week, it really isn't a surprise 2 odi players took the call since the odi were the most meaningless part of the series.

Not sure if you read the report Sussex, but last week it was reported the government son was part of the attack last year.
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/dhaka-attack-b ... fe-1568997

yes the security so far been excellent but it is awful to attack people for missing a tour when half the army is being used to make sure the players are safe and that no one is within touching distance while they travel to games.

do wonder if the Bangladesh government will keep on spending this money on the security makes sense for them to do it for this tour because of the money made if the tour goes safety and the country can't afford England to isolate Bangladesh, but will they continue to spend the money for other series especially against NZ, Australia that would need the protection but don't really bring the money to warrant the extra money spent on it.

Doubt BCB can afford the extra expenses and I highly doubt the government will pay for it all the time, they will only do so if it benefits the government and the economy.

To be fair, having seen a fair bit of Duckett I would pick him to be a test opener anywhere, let alone Australia. I am not sure about his test credentials but if he is picked it should be in the middle order. He is too loose and too impatient atm to be considered as an opener in tests.

Yeah not sure if he an opener at the moment, just don't agree with the reasoning that he won't be opening in asia because he not really an opener outside asia right now.

Saying that won't surprise me if Duckett does open soon for england since he clearly got the talent to play for england but what I have seen of him, he looks more of a middle order batsman but bangladesh is probably the opposite of other places in that opening is so much easier than batting in the middle order and reckon Duckett will struggle or find it harder to score runs in the middle order than opening.

Tough decision for the selectors but it makes more sense if Duckett opens in the winter and then moving down the order in the summer with Hameed opening.
Not sure it is wise to open with Hameed and cook when duckett having a good tour so far and is more likely to score quickly with the new ball where basically the only time the ball actually comes onto the bat.

basically what I am saying is that the Ashes is too far away for hameed to open right now purely because they don't think duckett can open in Australia, really this winter the selectors main thinking should be which person is the best man for the conditions.
At the moment it looks like Duckett the man.

plus not sure Hameed been batting that well so far in bangladesh, yes he been surviving but looks like the slowness of the pitch and the lack of strength means he struggling to score runs or rotate strike.
can imagine Hameed getting bogged down in the test match not sure it is wise for england to have a slow start in bangladesh, probably won't make a difference in india since the pitches are quicker so basically the advantage of opening isn't quite there plus Ashwin/Jadeja generally starts bowling earlier.
but in bangladesh the openers tend to score most of the runs, with the old ball run scoring tends to be hard or difficult.

Have you not seen the interview where Whittaker mentions Ballance a dozen times?! He loves him!

Prior to the 2013-14 Ashes, rumour was Whittaker was a Ballance fan and less keen on Taylor. And given that he was about to take over as head selector, it was perhaps no surprise that Ballance leapfrogged Taylor for a place. Flower may well have been a fan as well.

Paul Farbrace has said that Duckett could bat in the middle-order.

OK, it's hard to keep tabs. It was thought that Flower stopped Taylor's career. KP says as much in the book. If Whitaker didn't like him either, he didn't have many friends.

Probably a mixture. I think both Flower and Whitaker were unsure he was good enough - not a case of not many friends, he (or more specifically his technique) just didn't convince them.

Whitaker was quick to support Taylor when he took over, he followed the Lions Tour to Sri Lanka and made it know he liked what he saw of Taylor. So I am not sure this rumour has any depth

Quite surprise you see any relish on that post.
only really mentioned it since it doesn't make sense to me why Stokes would bring it up again and pretty much try to wind the bangladesh players up before a test series that is likely to be close.
really I would keep quiet while the bangladeshi players/Coaches still have negative doubts of them winning or playing well in the series, TBH actually surprised bangladesh are not that confident of victory or doing well unless it is mind games.
would have thought this would be their best chance of a win or doing well against a proper team.

Anyway to me it doesn't make sense for him to bring it up again, just like it never makes sense to sledge Samuels, most times sledging just doesn't work especially when the players is quite fired up/aggressive type players.

Saying that can't wait for the Test series, looks to be a close series.

Cook just said it is unlikely for the pace men to play all 7 test and in all likelihood all members of the squad will probably play a test this winter.
Although if Buttler, Balance etc get game then it probably means india won this series easily can't really see any other reason for why batsman would get replaced midway through a series unless they been hopeless in the games.
