Stokes out playing cross bat to a straight delivery, a classic one day dismissal. Bairstow went that way in the first innings. There was a hundred waiting for the asking but I think Ben was beginning to suffer fatigue and then the mind gets tired as well.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Anything less than 300 in front I wouldn't be too happy with defending.

What a fascinating Test Match ! Imperfect pitches tend to make the best contests...

I think the two Gingers have probably taken it away from Bangladesh - a few good hits tomorrow morning from Woakes and Broad would mean they'd need the highest score of the match to win ; always a tough ask in the fourth innings. But it isn't over yet ; England would hope their spinners are a bit more effective second time around.

Stoke has had quite a day - just as well for England Sussex isn't picking the team :)

Have heard some Indian fans chuckling away to themselves about the upcoming series : and I would expect some spinning pitches. But I will wait and watch that in time. Don't expect Cook and Root to total 37 between them in four innings too often...

Well go away for a few hours and come back with England in a very dominant position.

Stokes seems to have had a great day. Cleans up the tail in the morning and then comes in and rescues the innings. Well played sir :salute

If India were in similar position to what England is in, i would have already started celebrating victory.

Also like many Indian fans gave title of Sir to Jaddu few years back Sir title would be given to Ben Stokes also. :laugh

The difference is, India have several spinners you would expect to cause havoc on this surface, England do not.

England have to be favourites from here, but that doesn't mean a guaranteed win. Their spinners aren't as good as Bangladesh's, but the pitch is turning, plus the England seamers are better. Having six bowlers who are all wicket taking threats in this heat is a good thing - Bangladesh have good spinners, but even they can't bowl all day, and their pacers and part-timers don't look dangerous.

I doubt it will be smooth sailing for England - I expect there to be a decent partnership or two that will give us all the jitters, but it seems that anything over 250 on this pitch is a pretty decent batting effort.

Stokes must have been exhausted - it's over 32 and 100% humidity out there. Well played, Ben and Johnny.
