Rather appropriate finish : review (successful) by the bowling team - followed by another (unsuccessful) from the last batsman. Needless to say , at Dharmasena's end. He had a rough game ; but it wasn't easy - and drs fortunately kept things fair for all.

What a performance from Stokes Polished off both innings and rescued England in their second. Pretty clear MotM... and going a long way to counteract fears held in some quarters that he wouldn't be suitable for Asian conditions
And sympathy for Sabbir who so nearly got his team over the line...well played under huge pressure.

Well done to England for the win- there must have been some nerves. But that's a big fourth innings score from BD on a difficult to pitch to bat on, so they did well, and England have plenty to ponder upon.

Maybe leave out Ballance next time.

I think I'd be looking to replace Ballance - but with whom ? Suppose it has to be young Hameed so I'd be pushing Root back down to four. If Ansari is to come in he would probably have to replace a spinner...and despite the Bayliss enthusiasm I can't see any room for Buttler.

Looking forward to the second Test... clear that Bangladesh are no longer easybeats , at least at home.

Well England got over the line, and BD should be pretty happy with their performance.

Wonder what would have happened if BD had won the toss and batted first. Their spinners might have been difficult to handle batting 4th.

England though will go into the 2nd test better prepared and should start favourites again. BD long wait for a test win again a bigger test nation continues.

Lot of posters do not rate their team even though they have good cricketers. Agreed England do not have quality spinners post Swann and Monty combo, but they have quality batters, pace bowlers and couple of match winning all rounders.

Moreover even if someone does not believes Team England, they should atleast believe Bangladesh can collapse under pressure in 2nd innings.

Bowling attack of Jimmy, Broad and in form Ben was not beleived in one recent test match and Cook was blamed for not enforcing follow on. England won with a day to spare !

Even in this test there was lot of pessimism, which was surprising as it was a chase for day 4 with wicket having uneven bounce and footmarks. Also considering the fact the match was versus Bangladesh with a big tail batting under pressure.

I was reasonably confident, going just by what happened early on, on the previous days. Well done to Stokes, Ali, and the rest of the team. Unchanged for the second test, barring injuries.

Not really sure how England can start favourites in the 2nd game, considering they got a worse spin attack and their batting is on par with bangladesh.
if bangladesh prepare a flat deck, ban get the advantage and if they prepare a turning deck ban again get the advantage.
really Bangladesh should be favourites to win the 2nd test.

England would do well to keep it 1-0.

Very tight. I think Bangladesh will squeak this one. And it will be a famous victory if they do, and rightly so.

One thing we won't be able to complain about on the India tour is a lack of preparation. It has let so many sides down in the past, but two tests and an ODI series, not to mention tour games in Bangladesh and India - you can't get more prepared than that. Surely England's players will improve in their ability to cope with the conditions before the first India test?

Still not perfect though considering they have no warm up games in india and they use a different ball in india, so the players would be playing for the first time with the SG ball and only Cook, Broad, Bairstow, Root played with the ball and two of them only played 1 games with it.
they should be ok with the conditions and pitches.
