Tbh they don't play many test though think they only played about 10 test at home in 3 yrs probably the same amount England played in Asia.
Which again shows how pointless it is to look at stats in this series.
Considering England hardly played in Asia and Bangladesh have hardly played test cricket full stop.
This might actually be Bangladesh first test after a long time in the cricket season.
Most other times they played SA and India during monsoon.

Soumya has hardly scored any runs since those ODIs last summer.

Mosaddek is pretty good though. Not sure why he doesn't make the squad.

True he hasn't scored that many runs but a really good players that can't make the team.
Yeah mosaddek is a good player hard to fit him in considering the only vulnerable spot is kayes and he in good form.
They could probably drop mahmudullah.
But if they drop mahmudullah that really harsh on him as well plus think mahmudullah is a good cricketer.
Actually this is probably Bangladesh strongest batting line up ever with most of the batsman at their peak.

Aside from the fact that England will always be touring in very different conditions to what they face at home when they are in Asia whereas Bangladesh will either be at home or in relatively familiar conditions.

It's hardly rocket science to suggest that Bangladesh should be better equipped at home than a non subcontinental team, the fact of the matter is however that despite their improvements they aren't a particularly good side. On a pure skills basis the English batsmen are better than their counterparts, evident by the fact that even though the English spinners aren't all that good and the English batsmen don't play spin all that well, they still beat them.

Only just though so what basis are England favourites in the 2nd test.
The margin was so small that you could conclude the toss was crucial in deciding the game.
So would love to know what people saw in the first test that made them conclude England are favourites in the 2nd test.

Bangladesh have just played at home on a pitch tailor made for their bowling strength and yet ended up losing. Yet we are reading posts saying they were as good or better than England who beat them with a spin attack inferior to theirs. Crazy logic if ever I've seen it.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Never said they are better than England so you probably need to read better.

Anyway we see what happens in the second test will be very surprised if England win let alone draw the game.

Wouldn't say in skill basis England are better in batting Either.
Also quite funny calling Bangladesh not a good side wonder what that makes England then lol considering they only just won a test match.

I'm not saying England are favourites. I just don't think BD made a case to claim their batting did any better than England's in the first Test.

The toss was a factor in the result, and that went with England. England's lack of cricket in the conditions went against them, as even in BD, short tours and alien conditions make success a struggle for the tourists.

I don't really feel anyone is making the claims you are implying Bhaves. A home win is clearly achievable. An England win, is probably more likely. The result is in doubt.
I always say that everybody's right.

Soumya cant even make in the playing 11 of ODI which suits his game. If Sou.ya is next batsman in line to get in if someone gets injured then it shows how poor the options are.

that makes no sense what so ever.
a guy poor because he can't get into a team for a format that suits his game.
also think Nasir Hossain is next in line and then maybe Mosaddek Hossain.

don't think anyone is making the claim bangladesh batting is better than england, only claim I am making is that england batting is not that great and they are far closer to bangladesh than they would like to think they are.

also not sure how England win more likely considering they got awful spinners, they would need the pace men to do the damage again and with them getting rotated or not playing a question remains if England can do the damage again with the old ball.
If anything hard to see where england scoring runs from or taking wickets.

I think that over 5 days that base difference in quality makes the difference, if Bangladesh make a pitch that turns sideways from day 1 then they're just as likely as England to get out cheaply on it. Bangladesh have improved a lot over the last few years, but they're always one session off collapsing in a heap.

If they have a very good day they could bury England, but realistically that would be them over performing.

Winning a closely fought test away from home is a greater achievement than winning games by an innings and 100 runs at home. Which we probably did quite often against BD and India in recent years.
