Couldn't see the point with Ansari knocking on the door.

Batty will be back for India.

I hope not. I don't see the point. Bring the young un on. We'll probably get hammered but Batty will not make a difference to that.

Is there not risk of exposing Ansari to such a negative experience that he never recovers and never plays for England again?

Surely for a trip to India you pick your best team, not the team with the best potential? Obviously having Batty as the best spinner is not great, but exposing a young spinner who does not have the tools to deal with indian batters is a much worse idea.

But Root has only batted at 3 since last Summer's Pakistan series when he averaged in the 70's so that stat might be getting resolved. Still undoubtedly got an opener problem though and batting Root at 3 just creates a problem at 4.

An interesting day's play. England looked behind the 8 ball until the Bangladesh collapse then we had a familiar issue as well. The long story short is that when Cook struggles England's top order looks abysmal. There is a case for Hameed coming in at 2, though I think he and Cook won't work as an opening partnership, just to get someone in there who can stop the clatter of wickets at the top. Ballance is done, we need Root, Ali, Stokes and Bairstow to pull us out of this again.

It will be nice if the runs of Asari and Woakes etc are bonus runs onto a big total rather than vital runs to achieve a modest first innings lead.

Weirdly enough the England win is the same price as well but with the draw on 13.00.
Anyone know how much Bangladesh were at 180/1.
They must be massive favourites considering at 120/1 they were favourites.

Might cash out now not that I don't have faith on Bangladesh it just that the market given the right odds now plus if England take a lead ban odds will go up and they will not come down easily.

Really crazy offering Bangladesh 6.00 in the first place.
England fragile batting and poor bowling attack makes it likely Bangladesh will have a close game.

Cook's someone who might do something remarkable in terms of endurance or concentration or absorbing pressure. But Root's the player who might achieve great feats with skill, on a tough pitch. So he's the player I'm looking for tomorrow. He, Stokes and Bairstow are becoming the heart of the batting effort, at 3-6-7.

Indeed, he should be up at four, or as a minimum 5 if we wanted to split up the inexperienced batsman. It is ludicrous that Stokes, Ballance and Ali are above him.

thanks must have been a crazy game for the traders, wish I didn't work today, imagine Bangladesh odds at 200/9 and then at 170/1.
if you layed ban at 170/1 and then backed ban at the beginning you will be guaranteed big money if england win, lose or draw.
Can imagine loads winning money since most people backed bangladesh and then waited to lay them when they were favourites.
