how did Tamim actually score a very easy hundred here.

Poor bowling helped.

even though the bowling was poor still takes some effort from the bowlers to be that *modded* and the batsman to be that good when the rest could barely make 40 or have a partnership more than 60.

The pitch must have changed like crazy after the morning session.
didn't really see much turn or variable bounce on the session I watched live.

Tamin batted beautifully but was helped by some loose bowling. Woakes gave away 25 runs in 5 overs but 24 of them were boundaries.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

probably be match winning, crazy stat is that tamim scored 8 fifties against england in 11 innings so he probably due a failure now.
All the bowlers were awful only Stokes bowled well.
Don't remember Ali, Rashid or Ansari getting much from the surface either, although they hardly pitched the ball in the surface when I was watching, at one point Tamim was getting so complacent against Ansari since the pitch had consistent bounce and limited turn.

This is the first time I've been wanting England to win since the last Ashes whitewash. Not sure why.

that is weird maybe being the first side to lose against Bangladesh might be the reason, although I always thought you wouldn't worry about that and probably be pleased that Bangladesh are improving so not sure if that is the reason either.
Was too young or not born when Sri lanka started playing good test cricket but did people feel the same way when Sri lanka started winning games.

Think Sri lanka first win outside against asian team was in 1992 and 1993 against NZ and England respectively.

reminds me of the mohali/Nagpur pitch against SA.
Quick pitch, very dry and turning from day 1.
having a quick pitch when the ball turning isn't a great idea especially if it happening from Day 1.

50 run partnership, these two bringing England closer.

Very hard game to predict considering both teams are so awful.
The game is very even.
Wonder how much England can chase in the last innings.

So has the batting got a little easier out there, or are these 2 just doing what th top order should have done?

England lead, and these 2 have given England a great chance.

The advantage of stacking your team with allrounders.

I think the softer ball is helping but they are playing well, Woakes has always looked like a batsman with a sound technique but has rarely had so opportunities to bat long.

As I pointed out before the Test, it made very little sense to play Ansari above him in the batting line up. In other England sides Woakes could have been a 7, and he may even move up there in years to come.

There goes Woakes, shame he didn't get his third Test half century but a vital innings for England. Well played.
