Some schoolboy batting from England today...ironically the only one who isn't guilty of this is the actual schoolboy.

yeah, we gave away 4 or 5 wickets too easily either due to bad shots or just plain mental errors

probably only hameed, bairstow and woakes got out to good balls

probably essential that England find a way to get to 300, then. At least give themselves half a chance

The batting performance in the first test gave us all false hope it seems

We have to hope our seamers can get the ball reversing and try to keep india within 75 of whatever we make

Or that India gift us 5 cheap wickets like we did to them

He's succeeding because he takes wickets.

He's failing because he's so expensive.

He's not functioning as someone who dries an end up in the first innings. He could be a support spinner who bowls in the second innings. Though Rashid offers the same lack of balance.

I'm not really suggesting there even is a solution to this problem, just that it exists. And that there's a possibility that Woakes will become the role he is given.

Yes, good day for India. With a proviso that the Indian batting hasn't so far quite looked the intimidating prospect it did in the days of the fab four.

No doubt the FAB4 (Sehwag, Rahul, Sachin and VVS) have not been replaced.

However , this lineup has been scoring big runs (488 and 455) in first innings of both the tests respectively.

Is dobell being stupid or something apparently losing 5 wickets on day 2 and drop kohli on day 1 were minor events compared to losing the toss.

Just came back from work brilliant day for india some very good bowling, sloppy batting although credit should be given to the bowlers for making the batsman get out to sloppy shots.
Run rate of 2.99 is very good and probably 1 runs lower than it should be for this quick outfield.
only Yadavs were kind of expensive and even then that is harsh since they only concedes runs at 3.6 ish and they took 4 wicket combined.
Ashwin and Jadeja bowled well with some good reverse swing by the pace men.
