Think the general consensus is that 350 will be a par total here, although hard to set it right now since the quick outfield does make the par score look low if india score quickly.
looks like it could be 2 test in a row where England lose the game in the first 2 days.

lol Key even more clueless, Really Willis India won the last game on the toss.

It could be an interesting pitch come day 5

Anything above 150 could be a tricky chase looking at yadav two wickets, they pitched in similar areas one leapt and took Hameeds gloves the other kept a little low and hit two thirds of the way up the stumps

That is why England's batting has been so dissapointed, a score of 385+ would have put us in a good position to win the game come day 5 (the advantage of winning the toss being not having to bat last on what will be a very worn pitch and we've seen in both tests Batting last is tough)

As it is we need a couple of decent partnerships to get to 300 and jimmy has become like chris Martin so batty and rashid will have to score all of them

Quite funny how only Telegraph writers are the only ones writing sense lately.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2016 ... -use-toss/
Last week England had an excuse because they lost the toss, although being beaten by 246 runs was a hammering regardless of which team enjoyed the best conditions. England won the toss here and had everything in their favour. If they go on to lose this match then they will face far harder questions because they will be unable to hide behind the toss.

plus a total around 200 would put mind games into kohli head did lose a game last year chasing 170 odd.
although hard to see game reaching that far, considering india know they bat big once and they win the game now.
although think a chase of 200 would be interesting here, since the quick outfield might make it harder for the spinners to bowl attacking fields, can see lots of runs, wickets so could be a good game if it did happen.

Nah only tend to read Telegraph, Daily mail and Cricinfo although have subscribed to the times for this month.
Although surprised me how much the toss been in the press lately, never remembered the toss being so important or written about in the past sub C tours.
only have to look at the verdict and most general English cricket articles that basically suggest that England choked and felt the pressure of winning the toss and batting first, Hault again being spot on that England really should stop worrying about the toss since it does not influence the game but performing and having strong day 1 and 2 does.
Wonder how much the rajkot pitch and england doing well gave england false hope.
You really sensed they thought batting would be so easy on day 1 and that the toss was the only factor india being close to losing in the first game/
Although in reality if Kohli get the pitches he likes india will take wickets on day 1 and so england will have to bat well to get 450 in first innings, won't be easy like it was in Rajkot.

Bit surprised people are expecting big scores to be the norm in india since before Rajkot, getting 300 or 350 was an achievement and everyone was building india to be a huge challenge for the batsman.
Remember during NZ series Arthur and other people in many forum including this one would praise NZ if they got 250 and if india get more than 350 they would say india won this easily.
not sure how suddenly people are expecting massive scores again in india especially when after Rajkot the curator got criticised by Kohli and the indian press.

For me at the moment think 300-350 is what england should be aiming and they shouldn't even be thinking about the Toss advantage considering that doesn't even come to play until england actually play well for 3-4 days, one have to bat well and bowl well, any poor session and day and the toss advantage gone or extended further depending how the toss went.
not sure why people honestly expected England 600, india 500 and maybe an exciting boring draw or an england win.
Did people really think pitches would be dead for 3-4 days in every test match especially when Kohli/india hates those games/pitches.

even if England won the toss, was pretty certain England were never getting 450+ if kohli got a pitch he liked, too much help for the bowlers on day 1, either the seam bowlers, Reverse swing and Some spin.
although saying that can't see india get 450+ either unless Kohli, Pujara, Rahane etc give a masterclass or england don't bowl well.

Very odd how one test suddenly changed vast majority of people mindset on the scores for the series.

Will just have to see how the pitch behaves in the second innings

If the England bowlers get the nip that shami and yadav got plus reverse from about the 40th over batting might not be easy

As usual kohli is a massive wicket, if he gets out cheaply then this game is still in the balance

But if he gets going the scoring could get out of hand on a rapid outfield

It is interestingthat Samuels played three tests three odis and three t20s against Pakistan and never had a fuss with any opposition player.

Stokes is the common denominator.

TBH you sense players like Kohli, Stokes, Samuels, Warner are the common denominator since they love Speaking, Swearing and being aggressive.
I think the common denominator is that pakistan don't sledge or be aggressive with Misbah in charge only wahab sledges and he quite likeable as well while doing it.
The fact is Kohli, Stokes, Samuel etc will never give up, will always defend the teams and always looking for a fight when both type of players meet friction likely to happen.

Be interesting to see how CricViz reads the game, find the predictive scoreline tends to be quite accurate, although the win percentage does need fixing but does predict scores nicely though, should be noted they predicted the draw quite early in Rajkot since they do have Hawkeye data so can work out how easy or hard batting on day 5 will be using the data.

England 296 All out, India 396 out, england 258 out, india 159/5.
So they expecting bowlers to dominate the game.
looks like they suggesting 200-250 will be a tough total to chase and got 360 par.
official par is 367
England batting -99 runs
india bowling 173 which is quite something, Fielding -74, although do wonder if the bowling high because they took 8 wickets and dropped 4 catches.

at the moment they got Seam impossible to face and spin easier to face.
They also got the game finishing on day 4 after tea.

interesting after the toss they had india winning by a wicket, England to score 346, india 350 out, England 257 and india chasing 250.
So they got 250 the par total last.
they think anything over that, England will win the game.

Early wicket for Shami. These days when Anderson comes out to have a bat, he's usually bowling shortly afterwards.

Batty fails to live up to his name. Better for England to have a bowl, perhaps.

Wow, all out for 283 batting first. Well bowled :clap

We need to get lead of around 100 as we will bat last or hope England will collapse in second innings for low total .
