cant understand this from Moeen

they have a field setup for the hook/pull and ishant bowling short to him but he keeps playing the shot without really committing to it

Kohli's a bit fiddly with his fields too. Not criticising him though...

Buttler goes. plumb.

Quite an unusual event when an England batter gets out to a pace bowler.

Didn't really look a wicket taking ball on first glance.

Of course Mo has a bit of a reputation for struggling with the short ball. Shouldn't be happening in Chennai that much.

But it's Dawson that gets sconed. Memories of Lord's.

Ishant looking sharp. and getting a little swing. The ball for the wicket was straight though, just pushed JB2 back to a full ball.

am i just being cynical in thinking the main reason dawson got called up and is playing in this game is because he is likely to be involved in the ODI series after xmas ?

He's been playing, though only in the BPL.

An odd call up, reportedly because Flower thinks he's a good competitor.

But if he's mainly a batter, and averages 35 with the bat, being competitive is only taking him so far in CC. And he must have played plenty in CC2.

i know its been discussed already but i cant get my head around why we would call up a guy that is another all-rounder when batting depth hasn't been a problem and we have been crying out for another wicket-taking spin option

I'm not sure many have backed his call up.

Off the mark, so relief for the board's Hants fans... but looking uncertain, as, to be fair, everyone has when they came in- apart from Root.

Apparently, Jayant Yadav is more a top order batter than a spinner. Daws will have done well if he starts as well as him.

Moeen falls into the obvious trap

cracking innings from him but taking on the short ball like that when they have a field set for it is a bit of a worry

If India have taken until today to try the bouncer to Mo, they don't spend any time on internet forums.

Mo goes past Cook for series runs, 14 short of Bairstow, who is second behind Root.
