this partnership is pretty satisfying from an england point of view but also worried me just how hard work its going to be once its our turn to bowl

the more I see this game the more I think of nagpur 2012.
hard to see how anyone can win this game.

wouldn't go that far yet, at end of the day its only halfway through the second session on day 2 so you would expect it to be good for batting on

nagpur in 2012 was just a dreadful cricket pitch as it had nothing in it for the bowlers and was so slow it was also a nightmare for the batsmen to score runs

True but the number of close calls or chances by india bowlers is quite low.
the pitch will just get lower and slower as well.
hard to see how and when the pitch will deteriorate.
at the moment it is meeting the nagpur definition of nothing in it for the bowlers and a nightmare for the batsman to score runs.

but its not a nightmare for the batsmen to score runs, england are going along at 3 per over which isn't far off the norm for test cricket

day 2 should always be the best day for batting in a test match imo

Dawson was hit on the helmet this morning and Mo was bounced out. That could never have happened at Nagpur. But it might be that it'll become more moribund as the game goes on.

ok might not be that hard or slow for the batsman right now but it is likely to be in day 3-5.
really struggling to see how england will get 20 wickets here if india struggling to get it as well.

Ha! Nas is far too effusive about Cook's captaincy for my liking.

Sounded like no one really knew what to do at the toss, but if this pitch is going to get slow n low like Nagpur, it would have been worthwhile bowling first. I know no one would do that, not with three spinners in the team and no Anderson. But might have been the way to go.
