Cook will leave with an excellent average but we all have seen how poorly he's batted. The Indian fielders have been very generous to him even this morning he was dropped. Moeen has two centuries both made on ideal batting pitches.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Dawson was familiar to Flower through Lions get-togethers, and Leach wasn't, and Rayner hasn't been around the A team for years. I think that's why Dawson got picked. Being known to Flower, who thought he had a good character.

He was in the squad so they had time to size him up. Going at 9 an over is what happens in one day cricket even Starc has suffered. I don't believe he went at 9 an over in this game did he?

No, he took 2-129. I'm not saying his ODI history is that relevant to him being picked though. It's too little evidence. He was dropped after one game.

So it's your antipathy to Andy Flower that colours your judgement on a player. Anyone with the Flower seal of approval is tainted.

A good morning. The draw looking favourite. A 3-0 loss won't be as bad as most of us thought.

Of course, we're all partial. But that doesn't mean the process that got Dawson there was a good one.

Damn you England for getting my hopes up, just like I predicted!

Still waiting for the collapse. I'm not going to relax until at least tea. If the openers are still batting. Maybe.

Good attempt rich but no. In fact he was a thorn in the side of Warwickshire back in 2011 when Warks were chasing the championship playing Hants in the final game at the Rose Bowl. Lancs were winning at Somerset and Dawson was bowling tight overs to prevent a Warks win. My interest in Dawson is simply offering an objective opinion of his performance in this test, no more no less than that.
