its not a great innings at the strike-rate he has managed today but saying its very poor is a bit silly

especially when he is the "steady" guy in the top 7

Root gone for 78.

Not sure it is quite as easy to score on here as some are suggesting. Apart from the early dash of Roy , all the batsmen have perhaps threatened to take the bowling apart , but never quite reached top gear. Which suggests 300 might be a decent score after all - if they can get there.
Think Kohli has used his bowlers well to help restrict England ; but I'd normally have expected one or two batsmen to really take over - and it hasn't yet happened.

Of course India may find things easier - England have inferior spin options for a start ; and dew may be a factor later on. But I'm no longer certain this is really a 350 pitch.

reckon 330-340 is par anything less than that and india will be chasing it easily.
