I guess with out their best centre back and not having a prolific goal scorer right now they could start to worry like us, Leicester and few others just above the relegation zone.

And of course Jose Fonte leaving in the transfer window.

If it wasn't for the EFL final would the manager be out the door?

We, hopefully, solved one issue in the January transfer window by signing Gabbiadini (and his goal today was class). But we completely shot ourselves in the foot by creating a separate issue in it's place by selling Fonte and not replacing him. And that's ignoring the fact that Virgil is injured for at least two months.

I'm still not worried yet (for this season), but that will change if we lose against Sunderland next weekend. But I am very worried about next season. This is two transfer window's in a row that we've got badly wrong, even despite spending fairly big on Boufal and Gabbiadini. As every pundit says, you can't keep selling your players every season and continue to not let it affect you. Eventually it will catch up with you. You'll sign a duffer or two, or you'll decide not to replace.

As for your final point, I'm convinced that without the league cup final, Puel would be sacked if we were to lose to Sunderland next week. Even though, whilst his football is as boring as anything, the primary reason for our poor league season is the fault of the board's, not his. Board's don't sack themselves, they sack managers.

Question is though, can that mantra apply to Eddie? I asked the question a few weeks back, and I'm still asking it now.

I don't think Eddie Howe will be sacked because the Premier League is not really our rightful place, we are punching above our weight.

Yes, he has made a few mistakes and made a few dodgy signings, but I still think he has plenty of credit in the bank, and surely enough to survive a relegation.

However, I don't know how the board are thinking, they might decide that Premier League survival is essential. Personally, I don't think it is.

On a lighter note, Harry Kane should have burst those two whiteheads on his forehead before he came on camera!

Can still get 80/1 on us going down. 80/1!

Stoke (40/1), Burnley (11/1) and Watford (22/1) are all above us in the table, and on better form, and yet are down as more likely to get relegated. That may or may be true, but 80/1 seems exceptionally generous given our current form and lack of quality at CB.

So two horse race? Probably one after yesterday. Wenger can moan all he wants but it was no foul for the first goal. I don't agree that a CB would have cleared it either. Alonso was running onto it, and was clear favourite. Arsenal will get top four again, but I suspect their fans would rather have two seasons like Chelsea have just had/having, than two top fours, but no title.

he should have gone about 5 years ago imo

the team have basically been treading water under him, have the same flaws year in, year out and he does nothing to address them.

The Arsenal hierarchy just seem content as long as they get Champions League footy every season.

The fans must be bursting with frustration.

It's still a pretty impressive record, 20 seasons as manager, never finishing outside the top 4.

As a business that's all a board will ever ask for. Constant Champions League qualification and all the associated revenue that comes with it.

I think some of the fans are happy with that, I probably would be too, but I guess that comes from someone who supports a club that never wins anything but merely wishes for continued survival.

What would be interesting is if Wenger finished fifth this season and then is unable to appease anybody.

Well 6 teams wont go into 4, and this looks like the toughest year to get a top 4 finish for a long time.

It looks like Liverpool will drop out, but who else?

Can someone explain the studs up tackle and United players not getting sent off?

I think the Mata tackle was just about a yellow card. Borderline red, but although it was studs up it was more of a slide. As opposed to the two Rojo tackles where he jumped in and should have seen red for both..

he has probably had arsenal's best chances and for someone with so much technical ability made a real hash of them
